*****Please see http://drupal.org/node/82257#comment-193044 for information on the wikified version of this list.*****

This is an informal list of plans for contrib modules being ported to 5.x. I want to emphasize that these are informal guestimates by the maintainers and no one should expect exact ETAs. If you maintain a module and have an idea of if and/or when you'll be porting it to 5.x, please add your comment.

Please note: Modules not listed here should be considered to be just unknown status. Don't assume they won't be / haven't been ported. Maintainers are busy people and may not see this or have time to comment. Also, please do not reply unless you are a module maintainer. Asking, "Will X module be ported?" will just clutter the list. Off topic comments will be deleted to keep this post informative and easy to read. This forum post is sticky on top of the Module development forum so it is easy to find.

For information on updating modules to 5.x, see node 64279 . If there is a module you need ported and you know PHP, consider contacting the maintainer and offering to help (or just create a patch and attach it to an issue in that module's issue queue).

Maintainers: The branch is now DRUPAL-5. See node 86823 for details. Please refer to the next Drupal version as 5.x, not 5.0, to avoid confusion.

Looking for the 5.x version? You can now filter by "5.x" on all of the module download pages. You can also find them by searching the 5.x Drupal core compatibility category listing (also available as an RSS feed). You can also get these modules directly from the contributions repository in CVS (using the DRUPAL-5 branch). Be sure to check the issue queue, too, as many modules have an issue devoted to discussion of the 5.x port.

  • Node clone - should be easy, sometime soon after RC.
  • Content moderator - don't know; will require conversion to an access control module- co-maintainers and/or assistance wanted.
  • OG mandatory group - should be relatively easy, sometime soon after RC. May need a few words of advice from a guru.
  • event with volunteer timeslots - depends upon the event module, so I'll have to help move the event module to 5.0 before I update this module.

Editor's note: Node clone, content moderator, and OG mandatory group now have status updates in new comments.

Those two modules are not on this page because nobody has mentioned that they are going to adapt those modules... for the moment

Please reread the original post which tells exactly that if a module is not mentioned, it only means that it is unknown if the module will be available for drupal 5.x soon ... it does not mean that a module will never be made compatible, it only means that nobody said they will work on it yet.

I put the buddylist at 90% because I want people to test it! Please test the buddylist.

I've recruited two new co-maintainers for the buddylist, so don't hesitate to grab a copy of the 5.0 version and fill up the issue queue with whatever bugs you might find. I've also started a Social Networking Sites group to discuss the roadmap for Drupal's social modules, like buddylist.

unfortunately, 5.0 tarballs aren't being packaged yet. You'll have to get them from CVS with the -r DRUPAL-5-0 tag, or wait until 5.0 mods start getting packaged (which I personally think should be now).

dww’s picture

there's a moratorium in place on spending any effort on the old release system. the new release system is so close to going live (it's already running on scratch.drupal.org) that you'll just have to wait for that to see the 5.x packages...

enjoy,
-derek

p.s. you've got the wrong branch name. it's -r DRUPAL-5... DRUPAL-5-0 will be the official 5.0 release tag for core. otherwise, everything will either be DRUPAL-5 or DRUPAL-5--X (for X >= 2) for branches, or DRUPAL-5--X-Y for official releases. but nothing in contrib could ever have a cvs tag or branch pointing to it called DRUPAL-5-0.

...and possibly later than that, unless specifically sponsored by one of Lullabot's clients or something. The only possible exception is Module Builder, since that's a developer tool. Of course, anyone is welcome to submit patches and I'll review them as time permits. :)

Instead, the focus of my free time until then is going to be on bug fixing/polishing core... I want to do what I can to make sure the 5.0 release really shines. :)

Oh yeah. My modules are:

I think GoJoinGo and OG Forum are also on the list of projects that belong to me, but I am not maintaining them.

Decisions is in the process of converting to 5.0 and will attempt to support all beta releases as they occur. Backwards compability with 4.7 will also be maintained for as long as possible in CVS.

Also, I should disclaim that Decisions is dependent on VotingAPI.

We expect to release v1.6 sometime in November, so we'll ensure it works with Drupal 5.0

from a glance at the "things that need to be done", it appears that the changes needed to CiviCRM are fairly minimal. If so, we'll potentially backport to v1.5 when 5.0 reaches a beta stage

UPDATE: CiviCRM trunk now supports Drupal5.

ladycentaur’s picture

If you put the civicrm.css file and the civicrm.module file in the base civicrm folder and create a one line civicrm.info file you can use civicrm on Drupal 5.0

So far the only issue I've seen after doing this successfully is a visual issue mostly in the Garland theme. From what I can tell the only real changes for CiviCRM to be fully compatable with Drupal 5.0 would be to the layout/display placement of menus.

I have CiviCRM up with Drupal 5.0 and the Minnelli Theme here:

anarcat’s picture

We're still working on the transition to 5.x. An issue has been created to track the progression of the port, and at this point in time, the DRUPAL-5 branch has *not* been created and we have a critical issue that keeps the module from working at all. Considering a rewrite of the node rendering engine.

Michelle’s picture

Which module are you referring to? That link doesn't go to an issue, so that didn't help me... :)

anarcat’s picture

Sorry. :) I was talking about decisions. And I have now filed the last commits which enables basic functionality under 5.x. We're still missing some stuff like blocks and there might be some more bugs, but decisions can be created and votes be cast without problems.

I'll keep on updating this issue to followup on the status, but right now, decisions should be considered as "Ported basic functionality". :)

And by the way, Chris Kennedy is not the maintainer of the module (even though he did help a lot on it), Mathieu is.

anarcat’s picture

The decisions module has been successfully ported to 5.x as of today. The branch has not yet been created yet as we want to pack more things into the release and not have the trouble of porting to and fro the trunk, but decisions should be considered ported.

scott.mclewin’s picture

Wishlist.module will be ported to 5.0, but I don't think I will get a chance to start on it until after the first RC. I've got a fairly large Drupal site I am working on that will need 95% of my outside-of-real-job attention for the forseeable future.

[Comment incorporated]

scott.mclewin’s picture

In the past few weeks I've cleaned out the issue queue for the Wishlist module, released v2.0 for the 4.7 line and ported and released v2.0 for the 5.x line.

marble’s picture

I'm just finishing off a feature that I think is necessary for 4.7, then I'll be branching and starting on 5.0 compatability, so it should be ready within a month or so.

Just started updating the front page module with new features for 5.0 .

It's a simple module and won't take long.

Totally Agree with Robert Douglass's comment earlier about shifting resources onto a few key modules.

The front page would not be considered as "vital" as the modules Robert mentioned, but, as I said, it won't take long to update and I'll make sure it's ready soon.

The 5.0 release of Acidfree will be a complete rewrite that uses the Image, Video, Taxonomy, and Views modules. So naturally, it will depend on them. But so far, their CVS versions are working fairly well (or have patches in the queue that bring them up to date). I will do my best to get Acidfree 5.0 out the door in time for the Drupal 5.0 release, but there are no guarantees. To cover all my bases, though, I will be releasing an acidfree-legacy module that is just a simple port of Acidfree 4.7 to 5.0.

I would say that currently Acidfree is about at 50% completion and is making progress most every day. So I am very hopeful that it will be ready for the big day.

Believe me, if I had the skills and the talent to jump in and help I would. There are a few upgrades pending, awaiting either the next big one or the straightforward port.

Any idea when? I peruse the acidfree page daily and I see lots of patches.

...Will be coming to Drupal 5 shortly. The conversion isn't much work, as there's a minimal UI for VotingAPI, but some of the functionality is being shuffled around to auxiliary modules (views integration and actions integration, for example). I'm estimating that core functionality should be ready within a week or two.

Oct. 13: VotingAPI and VotingAPI Actions are now ported and available in CVS. Views integration is being reworked into a separate VotingAPI Views module, and will be longer in coming as the 4.7 code never really worked well.

Since Moshe updated OG, I've now completed an initial update for OG mandatory group to 5.x:

http://drupal.org/node/90920

see also a minor patch for OG:

http://drupal.org/node/90940

update- Oct, 29: both of these patches have been committed, so now the HEAD version of og_mandatory_group is tagged as DRUPAL-5--1-0

I'm working with jjef and webchick on a 5.x update of the modr8 module. My similar module, content_moderator, will probably not be updated and users referred to the modr8 module instead. An initial update of modr8 is available as a patch at http://drupal.org/node/91883

update, Oct 31: a 5.x update for modr8 has been committed to HEAD. Seems functional, but more testing and tweaking is needed.

Hi,

thanks for maintaining this list. The module Bookmaker is fully ported to Drupal 5. However, there's no branch in CVS yet, the working code is in HEAD.

Advanced Poll now works on Drupal 5.0. Future development will also be focused on the 5.0 version.

URLify - works with 5.0-beta1, the little testing I've done anyway. I may still do some refinements to make it more 5.x friendly but it works as is now.

Search config - Not sure when I'll get to this. There is now a permission to enable the advance search in 5.x so that should be sufficient for now.

Accents - Should work with 5.x as is, haven't tested it though. I'll update it soon if it is needed.

Accents should now work with 5. No release yet though.

I'll be updating fileshare for 5.0 most likely within a month or so. Thanks! 5.0 looks great!

Some additional info about CCK for 5.0. It works fine with latest cvs of Drupal, but not with beta-1. If you use beta-1 you need to overwrite the node module files in beta-1 with the latest cvs version of the node module files (from http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/drupal/drupal/modules/node/) to pick up a couple recent changes.

For 4.7 gordon announced the ecommerce release date the day after 4.7 hit the shelves. It was 1 month from then. I expect it will be the same or shorter this year, however the list of unsupported ecommerce contrib modules may get longer.

I just did some work to update the Location module:

While I haven't tested the patch, I wanted to get people thinking about it and hopefully other people who use Location module will help out with the process.

I had planned on cleaning up this thread by now but, due to health issues, it will likely be a while, probably long after the RC is out. Feel free to keep posting your statuses in the comments. People will just have to wade through them as I'm not going to be able to update the main post any time soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Michelle

The port of Tablemanager is 100% finished now, but it's in the process of getting a major rewrite (it will be backwards compatible nearer a stable release). I'd say the rewrite is currently 30% done, but at least there's a 5.x version for use in the meantime.

Logotool is 100% finished and updated too!

The modules I maintain

  • Internationalization - Already upgraded, but needs some testing yet and some new features are WIP
  • ContentO - Won't upgrade as its features are already in Drupal core, but will provide a migration script in the next weeks.
  • Pay-per-node - No plans for the moment, will depend on eCommerce upgrade and sponsorship...

Dear contributed module maintainers,

Michelle did an EXCELLENT job with this page and with the table above.

However, I suggested a wiki to her to allow each of you the opportunity to maintain your own comments when it comes to your specific contributed module(s) and its(their) status. She was very helpful and even provided me the html code for her post above, including the table. Thanks Michelle!!!

Please visit the newly created Contributed Module Status group. I've gone ahead and included the table above pretty much "as is" and would appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes to update the status of your specific module(s) so that users of your module(s) can easily see where we are with regard to 5.x porting.

I'll make a general announcement in a week or so on drupal.org once contrib module maintainers have had a chance to update the status on the wiki page for 5.x contrib modules.

Thanks to each of you for ALL your contributions.

Dear readers,

Michelle did an EXCELLENT job with this page and with the table above. What a great idea!

To anyone reading this, I would appreciate it if you could take 10 minutes to update the status of contributed module(s) so that users can easily see where we are with regard to 6.x porting. Anyone with knowledge on any contributed modules can make the updates - it doesn't necessarily have to be module maintainers.

For Drupal 6.x contributed modules, please visit the Contributed Module Status group and its associated wiki pages. Here's the wiki page for 6.x contributed modules.

Thanks to each of you for ALL your contributions.
