Andrea Pescetti got to know Drupal and its community while working on the ESN Satellite project, a Drupal website template now used by more than 500 student organizations across Europe and presented at DrupalCon Barcelona 2007. He then founded in Brussels Youth Agora, a non-profit organization working on Drupal projects in the field of international youth information.
In 2008, the growing demand for Drupal projects led him to create Nuvole, a Drupal company based in Italy and Belgium and working mainly with international organizations and institutions. Nuvole has a geographically distributed development team and pioneered a Features-based, code-driven development workflow for Drupal 7, that Andrea regularly presented in Drupal events like Drupal VolCon 2010, DrupalCon Copenhagen 2010, DrupalCamp Torino 2010, DrupalCon Chicago 2011, DrupalCamp Bressanone 2011, DrupalCon London 2011, DrupalCon Denver 2012, DrupalCon Prague 2013 (with a focus on Drupal 8 henceforth), DrupalCon Amsterdam 2014, DrupalCon Dublin 2016, DrupalCon Amsterdam 2019 (with a focus on migrations).
While still being primarily busy with Drupal projects, Andrea has gone back to his background as a Data Scientist in recent years, applying Data Science to, e.g., the Drupal community demographics (Drupal Europe 2018) and events attendance (2019).
As a complement to his Drupal activity, Andrea teaches Web Communication and Data Journalism at the University of Parma, Italy; he contributes to several open source and free software communities and projects, including the Apache Software Foundation; and he is a regular speaker at European Free Software events.
