Before you start

i have hust installed drupal, but i have a problem. when i was to the main page, with my admin account, and i choose administer or my account or log out every link send me to the localhost/drupal why?

I am trying to implement a registration facility to my site. The process of registration will be:

A User will complete the web form with the required details. The user will then be asked to make a payment through Barclay's ePDQ payment gateway. the users account will then be activated so they can start using the site. At this time the administrator will also be notified of the registration, while the user should receive a receipt of payment.

Is this possible to achieve in drupal and if so how would i go about in getting this facility to work.

I'm an amateur for the most part and just starting to get the hang of Drupal, I'm wanting to make a multiple blog site for some of my friends and family, and I was wondering if certain things were possible and how do I go about doing them.

I wanted to have certain pages/topics that if my members were to post blogs with certain tags their posts would display in the most recent content of those areas.

I'm new to Drupal and would like to develop a custom application using Drupal7. (Essentially a very customized website, should be what Drupal does well.)

This application needs a few main menu options; and depending on the context, a set of tabs that a user could select. If they pick a tab, then the content of a region will change.

What makes the most sense in Drupal7:

I have been using Drupal since version 5, and I am very concerned with Drupal 7s performance on shared hosting. There are numerous post on Drupal.org and elsewhere on the web where people are expressing concern about Drupal 7s performance on shared hosting. If you google Drupal 7 performance, the majority of the results lead to negative reviews of how Drupal 7 performs on shared hosting.

The clients I work with are small businesses and need to start out with shared hosting, and as their audience grows, they transition to more robust hosting options. I am talking about brochure sites, blogs, directories, portfolio sites, small communities and small e-commerce sites.

All of my potential projects are at a standstill because of this issue. It makes no sense to do a Drupal 6 implementation, if Drupal 7 is not a viable upgrade option because of poor shared hosting performance. I can only assume Drupal 8s performance on shared hosting will be even worse. I am being forced to look at other CMS options. Before Drupal 7, there was no real need to look any place else.

I need some advice on some modules. We are creating a web site comunnity memebership and we need a module for members to be able to advetise their event. Paid and unpaid members, bid like craigslist. So we need a module we can still have controll over it as well. Any recommendations at all?
