Accessibility

Dear all.

I'm evaluating various CMS at the moment. One of my criteria is the accessibility for people with disabilities. So, what about Drupal. Does it provide accessibility features. Which? If not, are these features planned? What is the time goal for providing these features?

Thank you for your replies.

Desperately Require Some Info

Hi all,

I have a site which has picked up quite a lot of regular traffic in a short time. I have upgraded my servers 4 times now:

1) shared hosting
2) semi-dedicated server
3) two semi-dedicated servers
4) 1 dedicated server
5) 2 dedicated servers

This has all happened within the space of four months - you can imaging how exhausting this is for me. Frankly, my site traffic (avg 54,000 hits a day) is not so high that two extremely high quality rack mounted servers shouldn't be able to cope - but I am now having problems with them as well. The admins are suggesting that the problem is Wordpress which is causing CPU use to skyrocket. I can't barely cope when the site goes over 8 or 9 MBit.

My question then, is Drupal a viable alternative for me or will it be just as resource intensive as wordpress?

Additionally, I have tens of thousands of comments, hundreds of posts, and hundreds of registered users - can these all be migrated to Drupal?

And finally, my site is a mix of three sites - can they all be merged to have the same look and feel and share users?

They are: Main blog (which I want to be less like a blog and more like a regular site with articles updated daily), the secondary blog (which should be a basic blog for system updates and notices), and a forums (currently PHPbb.)

How to translate menus and categories?

I didnt really get it working even with localization client, what am i doing wrong.

I want the navigation "pictures" in german "bilder" and french etc etc how do i manage to do that?

Can Drupal and an existing PHP web app co-exist?

I'm curious if anyone has had to use Drupal on a site that also has home-grown PHP web applications?

Specifically, I have a site that has some custom PHP code that will always need to be edited and maintained outside of Drupal. Is there a way to let a web app like this live alongside a Drupal installation?

Also, is there a module that allows for editing pages in an external editor such as BBEdit/Coda/Dreamweaver etc?

Thanks.

Setting up a gaming website?!

I am starting up a gaming website (news, guides, cheats, video, etc..) where I think Drupal can fill the need. One thing that I like is how major gaming sites 'relate' everything to each other. What I mean is that when you click on a game (say Gears of War), all other gears of war related content comes up (cheats, images, news, etc...).

So in an effort to replicate it in Drupal, I am sort of at a loss. What I am seeing is that you can can have different node types (pages, stories, forum posts), I can't get them to relate to one another.

What I would like to see is:
