Before you start

Hello, I'm currently working on a social networking website and I have a few questions about Drupal. Before I start asking though I just wanted to let you know that this is the first big project I'm embarking on. I'm used to making a website out of CSS and HTML, but I needed something to generate the web pages, as in a template and then user inputted information goes into certain fields or areas on that certain page. So when I did a search I found Drupal and I saw how many modules there are so I figured I might as well try.

I want link videos from youtube and google, i managed to get it working in one page using the object code.
Is it possible to link the video to a pop-up page.

I havent seen all the modules of drupal yet, can any one suggest.

Also i want to maintain a database of all video links and is it possible to call them direclty via the object code?

My hosting company recently switched me over to a new server where I can have a php.ini in the cgi bin. Can anyone recommend what would be a suitable php.ini for drupal. I only have the following. Any suggestion/recommendation or changes I should make?

Hello all the community members of Drupal. i m trying to implement a website for my institute. Can anybody will help me to decided what hardware requirment i take to implement. My current website uses more about 3000 html pages. And there are more than 3000 person that will use my website reguraly.

I do have a couple of questions and would appreciate some input

I want to build a website (digg style) BUT the user should actually WRITE their own story and NOT link to an external link somewhere else on the web. I did try pligg but I don't think it is capable of disabling story links.

Anyway can Drupal do so ? Can I have users submitting & writing their own stories (again not linking)
