Is Drupal a viable solution for my website? Please review What is Drupal before posting.

Looking for Drupal Experts answer on site design. Use one DB for multiple sites or LDAP and sych multiple sites.

I'm looking for someone who really understands how Drupal works. Here's what I'm trying to do. I've already received enought BS answers. So please, if you don't know how Drupal works let pleople who know answer. Thanks.

I want to use Drupal to add functionality (forums, blogs, stories, files, pictures, videos) to my site. And I have the need to break the existing site into special interest sites. I hope I can explain this in a post.

I have a domain, MyDomain.com. I want to use sub site for special interest subjects by giving out the domain name MyDomain.com/Interest#1 MyDomain.com/Interest#2 MyDomain.com/Interest#3 or as an example
MyDomain.com/sewing MyDomain.com/knitting MyDomain.com/weaving

I want to use MyDomain.com/Interest#n as entry points to the site. On each Interest#n site I would like forums, blogs, pictures, files, stories etc. So if you come to the site, you will only see the info on say sewing or knitting.

I've been told with forums you can only have one istall per site. So can an I create a custom view entry point in forms sat sewing that would just display a sewing part of the forum? If I do, can I create still create breaks and sub-sections in the forums. Can I have a sewing-pictures? sewing-files? sewing-blogs?

restaurant database site like this: http://www.toptable.co.uk/

Hello all,

Can I construct this kind of site (http://www.toptable.co.uk/) in Drupal? I need to make a database for the search engine - that's' what concerns me. Plus, the fact that it has to be in greek.

I'm familiar with Drupal and have built a couple of sites. If I wanted to make a form with fields for users to input restaurants where do I begin?

Thanks for any advice.

Setting up a Forum ONLY, or Blog Only site

Greetings,

If I want the front page of my drupal site to be a forum (listing all the forums) or a blog (with my blog enteries), is this something that will require custom coding or it can be done via the control panel?

Convert a product catalog into a drupal product listing / store

Hello,
I'm going to be converting a product catalog ( http://www.vintagepowerwagons.com/catalog/pdf/group1-engine.pdf ) into a web friendly format. I'm wondering if drupal with an e-commerce or some other module would be a user friendly / viable solution.

There are ~100 pages similar to the above linked catalog pages. It looks like there is going to be a lot of cutting / pasting / saving images / content. I have tried a few PDF to HTML converters with mixed results. Adobe Acrobat didnt fair to well. I tried PDFtoHTML an opensource convert which worked nice for web copy but not so well for images. Any suggestions for PDF to HTML conversions are appreciated.

The goals:
List products online, make them easily search-able / maintainable and mix in the various related tips, tutorials and diagrams. I do not want to allow customers to order these parts online, I would like them to be able to put them in a 'cart' of some sort to keep track of the parts the customer is interested in. To order customers must call in to make sure they are getting all the correct parts.

currently the products are maintained with Adobe Indesign, a new pdf is generated and uploaded to the site. This also works well for printed the catalogs, just send all the latest pdf's to the printing company and it works well.

how many Multisites can be hosted?

Hi,

I wanted to know how many multisites can be hosted using a same codebase but different databases, without sacrificing performance?

1) wanted an estimate number of sites that can be hosted in
i) shared hosting
ii) virtual
iii) dedicated hosting

given that all the sites have low traffic about 100 hits per day...

2)does having too many databases affect the performance of mysql server?

3)which is preferred .. having seperate database for each of the sites or using the same database for all websites with table prefix?
