Before you start

Hi all,

I have one site in Drupal 4.7 and want to have another site on same concepts (spinoff of main site) with diff domain (subdomain). Can these two sites share the database?
most of the content on new site will be taken from main site, so is it advisable to use separate database for this?
what will be plus and minus of this?

then do I need to run Drupal installation again on new folder for subdomain if at all I am sharing same database?

My website (http://www.sitesatlas.com) uses a primitive database-template system (DbtoWeb) to create over 20,000 static pages locally, and then it takes many hours to upload them all to my web server. Since it takes so much effort, I only make major changes to the website once or twice a year. I would like to migrate to a CMS to make things easier, but I'm not sure whether Drupal is right for me...

One thing that has prevented me being able to use Drupal 5 was the huge amout of queries generated per page causing a big mysql bottleneck. This issue was happening on a pretty simple install with only a handful of common modules installed like image, path-auto, notify, no heavyweight modules like views.

Anyhow, as Drupal 6 is nearing completion, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the number of queries generated per page has dropped, and does the built in block caching reduce the query count by any significant amount ?

How easy or difficult would it be to merge multiple drupal sites into one? I'm looking at possibly merging 2 or 3 sites into one.

I am still a Drupal newbie and have been working on a site. It is all most ready to be launched and my question is this. When printing the homepage to a printer. I get all the text information to print, but the company's header logo, and theme will not show up or print. Does anybody know how to make these included in the print?

Is there a way to edit Drupal content (Pages, Stories, etc) in an external editor like BBEdit or Dreamweaver or EditPlus?

I imagine that there would have to be some sort of conversion from the file you are editing to the database...

Anyone have any ideas?
