Drupal as an LMS

I would like to use Drupal to create a website that is a Learning Management System (LMS). Students would create an account, log in, and purchase access to online tutorials (flash video). Once purchases the tutorials would be available for viewing at anytime by the student on his or her login page. They could not download the video but could watch it anytime.

There would also be a forum for each of the modules so students could ask questions. Does this sound like something that would be good for Drupal?

Will Drupal do what I need?

Hi,

I sell stamps and would like to create a website that will allow the following:

Set up a home page and numerous "sub-pages" with links to other pages with content.

The content pages will consist of many .jpg files with a title and short description.

Then when you click on the particular "picture" (.jpg file), you will go to a full page
showing that listing with full sized photo and tit;e/description, etc.

I need the ability to upload hundreds of .jpg files (at one time) and then link them to hundreds of
pages of content so that they appear in the correct place.

I then need to be able to view them in html as well as a WSIWYG editor so that I can
edit them.

I then want to be able to create a shopping cart so that that buyers can select the
various items for sale, have them appear in the shopping cart and then make arrangements
to be able to pay for them, ideally with a link to Paypal, or something else (this payment
link is not crucial".

Ideally, I want to create something that works similar in concept to Ebay or Bidstart, or Stamphead
but allows me to set up the pages the way that I want.

Are there Drupal modules with a supporting structure that will alllow me to do this?

I am using a Dell Dualcore processor desktop running Windows XP (SP3), Internet Explorer 7 and
zonealarm firewall and Trendmicro antivirus/anti-spyware.

Is Drupal capable of social networking?

Hey everyone,

We are about to start work on a different kind of social networking geared towards artists. I won't go into much detail, but essentially we are setting out to build a facebook-esque website with some different features, a forum, etc. The website will have a sign up page, a notifications type thing, friends, messaging, a chat room, just about everything facebook has, just tweaked to be geared for a different audience. Is Drupal capable of this, or should we just start hammering away at our own code?

Thanks so much in advance,

Mathieux

Is Drupal suitable for my wiki-like page?

Hey Drupal Community.
It's a long time now I had a great idea for a homepage, a web-database wiki-like page. Now I am planning to make it become alife. Cause my skills in Coding are not even nearly fitting the need, especially with Drupal i will ned a professional coder for it. But I am not that far already...
Drupal got recommended as the best CMS solution for my page concept. I don't know Drupal at all, so i will need to know first if Drupal really is the best solution for my page conception.
And before someone asks: I know the wiki projects, but they are leaking too much in homepage & design features... I also know that a professional coder will cost for all this a huge ammount of money, i planned that in already ;)

At first now, if anything is not understandable, please ask. I am German and I have absolutely no problem with talking and writing normal stuff, but this here need very special vocabulary I am not surely having...

Ok my Page...
The heart of it shall be a Wiki-like Construction. Registered Users shall be able to create sites and edit them, whereas admins & mods shall be able to restore them after mistakes or vandalism. Pages are written with special masks, one mask each for 5 areas of this page. In the mask there are fields where special content shall be written (title, category, content, souces, etc).

and only by plugins it is impossible.
Thank you for help.

Traditional website alongside Drupal on same webserver?

Hi, I have been looking at Drupal for a couple of months now, and I'm still not sure that it is right for my current project. So, I'm thinking about installing it on an Ubuntu machine here at home to play around with it first. However, I already have a website on that machine that is accessible to the computers on my network only. My question is, can I install Drupal, play around with it and still keep [and edit] my traditional website on the same server?
