I am already using Drupal for my business web site. I have hardly worked with Drupal. I got this web site going quickly from examples I saw on drupal.org. Now I have an idea for a more complex web site and I wonder if Drupal will work for me.
On the new web site people will post media (an image, video, audio file, or some text) together with category tags describing what it is (so people can search on categories). For every posted item comments can be made (tagged pro, con, neutral). You will be able to click buttons to show only "pro", "con" or "neutral" comments.
I'm working on a website that I think Drupal would be a good fit with. I'm hoping to deploy it using my Bluehost shared hosting account - which has 1-click installation for Drupal 6 and 7.
Basically what I'd like to set up is a collaborative filtering recommender system for websites, specifically blogs. When someone comes to the site for the first time, they give 5 star rating to a few blogs. Once they have provided these, the website will start recommending other blogs they might like by matching their tastes with the tastes of other users'.
I'm in the process of the selecting the right approach/technology to build a relatively complex review site, and potentially a sister mobile app (via API). I have attempted it in the past using both Drupal and Wordpress, but encountered several issues and complications that made me abandon it, and looked elsewhere.
I want to start a new project (a blog for my wife). It's not urgent but I have time now and would be good to start building a new D7/8 site. Since D8 is RC1 should I wait a few months to start or can I start using D7 and upgrade to D8 later?
It's not a complicated project, it's a blog with some sections using special content types and some basic custom fields.
Also, I'm considering WeebPal.com themes, is that OK? I send an email to that developer but I didn't receive any reply. Any experience with him?
Our company needs to develop a portal that allows us to program specific functions, interact with current data calculation processes, allow clients to skin their own instance of the portal, and see and maintain only their own data.
