Will D8 be in C++ ?

Will D8 be in C++ ? See http://php.webtutor.pl/en/2011/05/17/drupal-hiphop-for-php-vs-apc-benchmark or will it or just as terribly, through out the window, slow as D7?

Member screener application

Hi guys,
I'm looking for something very simple: I would like an application that would allow clients to upload one picture along with a form (predetermined ) that describes it. Eventually, another client would visit the site and fill a search form that would return the results (the pictures that satisfy the conditions) in a nice format (gallery?). I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Is there anything on the market that could be easily tailored to meet my requirements?
Any hint would be greatly appreciated!
thank you,
Patrick

Start to be dispainted

I am using drupal 7 from 3 weeks , but I am starting to be really disapointed. I can not find the way to display rows from the mysql table. I jsut need simple page displaying data from table on the webpage.

Need some advice please

Okay, after much reading and research I keep coming back to Drupal. I really want to learn it and use it for an ecommerce site.

My question is how should I go about doing this? D7 is still fairly new and I don't know if I should use it or use D6.... but I'm wanting to use it. I just don't know. There have been different reviews for it. We are at this moment a fairly small online store but want to be on a platform that will allow us to expand and grow and add, tweak, upgrade, etc...

I know every platform has it's own downsides and upsides but I'm having a really difficult time deciding which one I want or should use. Here are a list of the most pros and cons that I have read and talked about with other people.

Drupal - Cons: Huge learning curve, extremely difficult for novices. More geared towards skilled programmers. Template designs sort of lacking

Pros: Extremely powerful, very flexible, huge potential, very active support forum

Joomla - Cons: You know, I really don't know. I have to say that so far I really like Joomla... only con I can see is that it doesn't yet have the reputation for being as powerful and streamlined as Drupal.

Pros - Fairly easy to learn for a novice. Pretty straightforward. Very active support forum

Using Drupal as a customer file portal / ftp replacement

I want to stop sending clients download links for their videos. I have used drupal in the past and thought it may be a good fit just thought I would get some feedback and recommendations on modules.

I want to create a portal that allows me to create users and upload files that only that user can see download/upload. I would like to show the meta data of the files... last update, file size, name, format. really this is just a FTP replacement.
