Calendaring Module Recommendations

Not sure if this is the right place for this.

I am looking at doing a drupal site for a nanny/baby-sitting agency. They want to allow users to login to the site, view an availability calendar and request service dates according to individual baby-sitters and/or nannies. Could I tie this into ubercart somehow? Like, setup each babysitter as a product and have users buy time slots and then somehow tie that into a calendar. Let me know if you think that is too crazy or if there is a better way.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Voucher ticketing system and basic sales register - request for ideas

Im pretty new to drupal but I am ploughing my way a through books at the moment to learn as fast as I can. One reason for learning it is I would like to create a an administration system for my travel agency that can be used between my three offices. At the most basic i want it to be used to record sales and taking of cash in two currencies and also a system to create vouchers for tour products for customers. I thinking it might be best to approach each of these separately.
Im not not asking to be told how to do all this of course but I was wondering anyone could give me some pointers and ideas to explore - ive come to realize there is quite alot to learn so if I could just get some suggestions of what might some good ways of making it work I ca hopefully reduce my learning curve a little. I will outline some of the functionality that I will be looking for , so if anyone has suggestions modules that might work that would be great. I have got CCK, views, panels ad a few other modules etc installed already and that is what im studying mostly at the moment.

will Drupal Crack my Hard Disk ?

Hi,

I'm new and testing the latest version of Drupal 6 following the hands-on provided in Oreilly Using Drupal book. I'm truly amazed at the immense flexibility of Drupal but I doubt if it's stable to be used.

I noticed EXTREMELY HEAVY Hard Disk activities every time I configure under the Administration session especially in loading/saving module configurations and creating/saving new View / Content Type.

It took about > 1-3 mins to load and save the module page, I can see my hard disk light keeps blinking.

What's unbearable, it also takes around 15-45seconds for saving a View / Content Type configurations. My Hard Disk light is constantly on during the process of saving. I'm really worried about my Hard Disk health status and doubt if Drupal will my crack it physically sooner.

I come from Joomla and just testing Drupal after hitting limitations in Joomla. For the first impression is Drupal just looks like an ugly witch as compared to Joomla. After playing around with Drupal these few days, I'm really impressed with its flexibilities and think it can be a good choice for my new projects.

Yes, I love the CCK and View in Drupal and many granular settings being extended by other modules. Joomla does have a number of good CCK now but each is working in a silo mode, lack of integration and collaboration.

How many days should I wait for reviews?

I presented a module for review 3 days ago. There has been no commet on it yet. I wonder how many days I should wait commonly?
Thanks!

Drupal & SugarCRM - Integration

Hello,

I would like to know if it would be possible to integrate SugarCRM with the Drupal portal. By integrating both, I mean that our users would use the Drupal portal which would contains modules of SugarCRM such as:
-Project Management
-Bug Tracking
-Contacts
-Accounts
-...

Drupal modules versus Joomla Core functionality

Firstly, I want to make it very clear that I am not bashing one platform over another nor do I want to start some kind of "Joomla versus Drupal" debate as I see that this is something that's been done to death. I simply want a few opinions from other Drupal users regarding a few queries I have.

I am in the process of developing my first Drupal site after deciding that I wanted to make the switch from Joomla (Even Dries has noticed an influx of us Joomla "refugees" as he puts it :D). I want to make the switch simply because my reading over the past few years has led me to believe that the Drupal platform is much more extensible and much more powerful than that of the Joomla platform (in my opinion). I also notice that the quality of the modules available for Drupal is much higher and I basically like the community feel even though I am not clued up enough yet to contribute.

What I have been seeing is that Joomla provides some functionality that I have become used to that Drupal does not include natively namely, menu links to a "section"/"category" in various different layouts i.e. blog, table etc.
