Hi All,

New to forum but long time lurker and web developer.
I'm a big fan of the Drupal platform (as well as WP) as yet to put it use fully in a commercial setting.

I didn't want this to be the age old argument over what is a better CMS, but ive noticed a trend with the Drupal sites i've inherited over the years.

Drupal in the right hands - Can be astoundingly good.
Drupal in the wrong hand - Is amazingly bad!?!

I have been searching extensively for weeks and I am at a loss. We are building a big new webshop with Drupal 7 + Ubercart 3 and we are in desperate need of some software to take care of CRM, accounting/finances and preferably also customer support and ticketing. Ideally one integrated ERP (Enterprise Ressource Planning) package that does it all

But it's not easy!

All of these functions are of course vital for most businesses, but we can't come up with a good solution for Drupal.

"ERP" is dead, it seems: http://drupal.org/project/erp/

"Drupal ERP" was an idea, but just an idea it seems: http://drupal.org/project/derp

Then there is "OpenERP", but it does not seem to integrate well with Drupal (even though there is a proxy API), it's interface is clunky and we have written 3 emails to them without receiving any replies. It could be a bit of a headache trying to get this to work.

There is much promise in the new "ERPAL" http://drupal.org/project/erpal, but after some research (reading a bit of German) we have determined that the earliest possible beta release would be in December 2012 - probably later.

So we sort of gave up on finding an ERP, and started looking for smaller software packages that handle isolated tasks. One for accounting, one for CRM etc.

I've just been searching around this site and on the net in general on this topic, and there wasn't a lot of content, so I thought I'd post a general discussion about the subject. I run a large 6.x site which is using a lot of modules and some custom modules. Starting again now, it would clearly be a good idea to start with D7. But aside from security updates after August 2013, what other advantages are there to move to Drupal 7? I've seen mention of improved admin UI, currently not a problem for me.

There is a module, Hierarchical Select, that I think should be in the core. Where would I go to voice this suggestion?

Sad day for Drupal community, RocketTheme is stop developing Drupal themes for good.

Before RocketTheme, WooThemes was also pulling out from Drupal.

Maybe developing a good Drupal themes with great design is just too hard to do and not profitable?
