Show content based on other content

No idea how to call it, but what i mean is this:

I show the latest news item on my frontpage in Block A. I have two taxonomy terms, News A and News B. Block A shows the latest news items of all the news, so can be either one of those categories. When the latest news item in Block A is of the term News A, i want to show the latest item of News B in Block B. When the news in Block A is of type News B, i want to show the latest item of News A in Block B.

Is that possible and if so, how?

Moving from file-based development to Drupal database-based development?

With my current development setup for file-based (i.e.,non-database) html/php web development I have local copies of my websites on my computer and I can test them in my local apache installation. When I am satisfied with any changes I ftp them to my server.

It seems like it would be difficult to create similar workflow with Drupal. How do you handle this? Do you only have the one live copy of Drupal and make your changes directly to the site? I'm not necessarily opposed to this as it eliminates an extra step (ftp'ing files). Comments?

2008 Hosting Evaluations and Recommendations

This thread has been locked. See the new forum guidelines.

Welcome to the 2008 Hosting Evaluations and Recommendations Thread!

As has been tradition for a few years now, this is the thread to post your recommendations and experiences with Drupal hosts.

Before taking the advice of some random stranger, there are a few things to consider:

  1. How long has the person been active in the Drupal community? Are they a new account making their first post, or a seasoned developer with real experience?
  2. Do they actually have any Drupal sites running on the host in question? How long have the sites been hosted there?

And here are just a few of the things you should look for in a host:

  1. Speed! Specifically, database speed. Just logging into Drupal requires over 100 database queries, so SQL performance is critical.
  2. Reliability: If your site is down, you're losing business. Can the host handle your traffic?
  3. Shell Access (SSH): While not strictly necessary to install Drupal, having access to a command prompt will make your life much easier.
  4. PHP5 Support: Drupal 7 will require it, so if you plan on upgrading, make sure your host supports it.

Read more appears in full node view

Hi -

I'm a drupal beginner. I've set up various page views based on taxonomy terms for my site but when I use a 'Full Node' view the resulting page continues to show the 'Read more' flag at the bottom of each story - even though the full story is shown above it.

Multiple file attachments in form

I'm developing a form in a new module that needs to allow users to upload multiple attachments, like the way it is handled in upload.module. Is there an easy way to make use of the upload.module functions from my own module? Any examples or documentation on that? All I have found is examples for single file uploads, not multiple attachments.

Thanks.
