Drupal 4.7.x

You know when you install drupal - they give you a nice front page to introduce you to what you have installed.

Well, i would like to know how this layout and stuff can be replaced with ones own text when one gets going.

I have a mission box, but i was wondering if i could fill the rest of the page up with soething that is not posts.

Would a book page do the trick, if so how can i make it automatically go the front

I was wondering how to have a users page, and if possible having it on the front page instead of posts, thanks.

I was wondering what happens to already existing users/permissions once I integrate with active directory? Do the users get overwritten or does Drupal check AD then use local if it can't find anything in LDAP/AD?

My Drupal (4.7.x) always shows older page. I have to literally click "refresh" once or twice to get the current version. Why is this happening?

I want to upgrade a 4.7 site, but that site is using the pushbutton theme, which seems to be gone now.

I need to be able to put a subdued graphic behind the text on the front page. With pushbutton, this was easy, I just replaced the down-arrow jpg. I am not sure how to do this with any other theme.

I'm not all that crazy about the look of the site, but it seems to be what my client wants.
