Should there be a node for all SQL data

I am a newby and have just started working with drupal.

For the past few years I have been running a site that can at best be described as an on line library catalogue. It was set up in the form of with a DB with lists of thousands of resources acccessed - on request from a user - via ASP, PHP and Access.

Drupal for High School Department/Class Site?

I am a high school teacher. I created the site: http://chargertech.edisonchargers.com/maclab/ for my class. It serves as the class text book, portal for parent information, and to link to student Web sites. I coded it myself with my HTML skills being decent and CSS something I have learned recently. I am in now way a programmer.

How difficult is to convert normal HTML site to Drupal.

I started researching on using drupal or wordpress. Our current site is developed on pure HTML, which is why it is very difficult to add/edit content.

Site itself is not very complex. It has collapsable side menu bar(with images, highlighting, etc.,), Some actual content has tabbings with different links. Other than that it is quite straight forward.

Any tools to convert the html site to drupal? I am also considering the option to have some experienced person to help us out. So PM me if you can help us.

1and1 to localhost...? HELP

First off, I am new to Drupal. I started a test site on my one and one server for a client so they could see my progress. I have now figured out that 1and1 is a huge mistake when working with drupal. I will end up moving the site to a different host later but for now I would like to make a backup on my mac and play around with the site a bit.

I found another post talking about this issue but it did not work. Here is what I have done so far.
