Migrating huge legacy website

Hi all,

I am building a website for a friend running a local fortnightly using Drupal 6. The problem I'm having is that he's been running his website using static html pages churned out by frontpage. So over the period of time he has accumulated some 300MB+ hand-coded content. Is there a way for me to have Drupal handle the home page and the new content and at the same time serve the old pages for the old urls. Otherwise he'll lose a lot of google stuff like pagerank etc.

Please suggest ways around this problem.

Thanks.

Converting Product Database to Drupal

Hi Everyone.

Am looking to move over to drupal. I have found solutions to pretty much everything except for 3 functionality issues.

1. Product Quotation database.

We are looking to adapt our old quotation database and integrate it into our site. Basically each of our products have 3 attributes, material, finish, and backing structure. For each product there is several options of each attribute. Each user can flag various options and it will generate a budget price for the sales person to use.

What modules will be able to do the above or near enough?

Transfering From Wild Apricot

My client's on Wild Apricot...but they/we agree that a Drupal site will be good for them...but what can we salvage from their current site?

Complex calendar view page...

Hi guys, I'm new to drupal and need a bit of a kick in the right direction on how to go about this...
I'm converting a site that uses a proprietary cms into drupal and it has a pretty complex calendar system.

Here's what I have:

The website I'm building has a bunch of pages about certain locations in the city (attractions). Then I have events that happen at certain times that relate to those attractions. I've already got that linking up nicely so I can create events and select the attraction that goes with it, and the dates work fine using CCK.

how to do WP is_page() in Drupal?

Hi,
I am coming to Drupal from WordPress.
I followed guide and sub-themed zen.

Now I want to change if (!$page) in node.tpl.php
to use $type which says: $type: Node type, i.e. story, page, blog, etc.

For starters, I would like to display title only on blog posts.

Where is this stuff documented?

Thanks,
Mitch

Welcome comments on how to convert site from Oscommerce

I want to install Drupal then use it as a replacement for Oscommerce on
my present website www.accommodationgoldenbay.com as I no longer use
the shopping cart function.
I have a few questions
1 I want to keep the URL's of as many of the pages as possible as I am very well placed on Google, if I install Drupal using Fantastico should I do this in the root directory ?
