Hosting support

I would like to hear from you guys but so far I would have to say that Hetzner provides the best Drupal hosting in South Africa! I have tried quite a few other places and the performance just doesn't come close. If there is anywhere else that you guys would recommend please do let know...

some of your accounts were banned for spamming
others banned for incidents like the one in this thread.
still others for creating multiple accounts to continue to argue.

let feedback & business practice speak for itself and stop giving flame bait. I've read numerous threads where this ongoing debate is concerned and it certainly shouldn't be taking place on drupal.org.

Making a statement without the full facts and then banning the user thus preventing him to respond is not very good for a fair community. All we want is fairness.

If you see 10 drupal users stating in a thread that a fake user from a competing firm is trolling the forums. Still you ban DVH, instead of that user? very convenient...

My site is currently hosted on Future Quest.

It is reputed to have 100% uptime and the mySQL server is hosted on a different machine.

My friend complained that the loading is slow. For myself, I find that the loading is sometimes fast and sometimes slow. But that could be because I am staying at the other end of the world.

I do not have any complaints on Future Quest. It is as good as it gets for shared unmanaged hosting.

Another system that i was looking into was MediaLayer.

I recently just created my 1st ever Drupal site. I had heard good things about Dreamhost and since my client was paying, we just went ahead and paid for the whole year in advance. This ended up being a huge mistake. I would also like to preface this with the fact that our site is extremely small. Small in the sense that it has about 5 nodes, no custom mods (besides fckeditor), and the only person logging in is the administrator to make updates to the content.

That said, the site is beyond slow. I am talking unusable slow. To log in it takes 30 seconds, with page loads around 15 seconds. After e-mailing them this is the response I get:

"I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems. Unfortunately Drupal does not run very efficiently on shared hosting servers such as the one you are on. This is one of the reasons we do not officially support it. For the best Drupal performance we recommend that you upgrade to a DreamHostPS server which you can read about athttp://www.dreamhostps.com. Its dedicated hosting without the dedicated price. There are no steps we can take to make Drupal run faster on your current plan. Yes you are on the blingy cluster but Drupal runs slow regardless of which cluster you are on."
