Rendering main menu with custom classes

Hi,

I'm trying to render 2-3 levels of main menu with custom css classes in ul/li element in my drupal 8b2 theme, but after 2 days of googling I have to give up. I simply can't get anything to work ; so any hints on how to make this happen?

What I would like to have looks something like this:

Drupal 8 Menu Access Denied error

Hello,

I've installed Drupal 8 (Drupal 8.0.0 Beta 2) and after the installation I go to the Menus->Main Navigation. If I create a link there without link path I get the message "You are not authorized to access this page."

I am the administrator for the site and I have gone in and checked all the permissions are checked in People->Permissions for the Administrator role. If a link is created with a link path then I am able to edit without any problems so I don't know if that rules out a permission issue?

Is Drupal the proper solution for my needs ?

hello all,

i want to create a new website, I think that Drupal is the perfect tool, but I want your suggestions..
Its about a city promotion site, for the city i live. It will be multilingual, with a large event calendar, news, blogs for misc bloggers, etc..

the percentage of the content will be:
Event Calentar 50%
News 20 %
Blogs 10%
Articles 10%
Info, Photo gallery 10%

So, from your experience, is Drupal the appropriate software for me ?

rgds,
George

Drupal 8 Beta Updates

Did a quick search, but couldn't find the answer. Basically I've installed the Drupal 8 beta and was wondering how updates will work. When there is a new beta released, will I have to wipe out all my files and db and re-install it from scratch? Or is there a way to update from version to version without losing my stuff? I'm not running it in production, so there is nothing that I NEED to keep. But if there is a way for me to keep all of the test pages, articles, menus, blocks, etc, that would be ideal.

Anyone know how this procedure will work with the betas?

If you’re a web programmer, your experiences have taught you certain lessons—and only some of them apply well to Drupal. Drupal has its own set of programming principles that require a different approach, and many programmers make mistakes when relying on skills they’ve used for other projects. This book will show you which programming techniques you can use—and which you should avoid—when building web applications with this popular content management framework.

Updated to cover both Drupal 7 and Drupal 8, the guidelines in this book demonstrate which programming practices conform to the "Drupal way" and which don’t. The book also serves as an excellent guide for Drupal 7 programmers looking to make the transition to Drupal 8.

  • Get an overview of Drupal, including Drupal core and add-on modules and themes
  • Learn Drupal’s basic programming principles, such as the ability to customize behavior and output with hooks
  • Compare Drupal 7 and Drupal 8 programming methods, APIs, and concepts
  • Discover common Drupal programming mistakes—and why hacking is one of them
  • Explore specific areas where you can put your programming skills to work
  • Learn about the new object-oriented Drupal 8 API, including plugins and services

Drupal8 on Ubuntu 14.04

The installation proceeds through "configure site", loads the welcome page, and displays the "Manage" and "Shortcuts" links. These function normally. However, the links to "Content", "Structure", "Appearance" return a 404 error when clicked. The apt-get script used to install the LAMP includes:
install php5 libapache2-mod-php5 -y
install mysql-server libapache2-mod-auth-mysql php5-mysql -y
install php5 php5-mysql php-pear php5-gd php5-mcrypt php5-curl -y
install phpmyadmin -y
