Creating website sections with Drupal

I am considering using Drupal for a website, and I am wondering whether Drupal makes it possible to separate a website into sections, with different looks/content for all webpages/nodes in a section. Also, if it is possible, how much know-how of Drupal/PHP would be required. Let me explain...

Does my site need Drupal?

Hello, i would like to build a basic pay-to-access site. They'll be given a free like 3 day trail though, but after that they'll be able to access the site completely.

Also i wanted to like ad options when they sign up. Like if they wanted a specific email that would charge a little more...etc

I was wondering if that is possible and it could be an automatic thing when they signed up to where those options are available right-away.

The site will have tons of profiles w/ pics and a single video on it. Is this possible?

categories and menu question...

Hello -

I've been testing Drupal for the past few days for an upcoming project and I love it so far!

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around taxonomy, but I'm getting there.

I need to be able to list products in a catalog format (I don't need ecommerce, but I'm looking at ubercart as a way to solve this).

Is there any way to have pages link to multiple menu items (categories)?

Here is what I need:

Can I use 5.x modules with Drupal 6.1?

Hello folks,

I installed Drupal 6.1 and are very happy with that. I am not sure wether I can use 5.1-Modules or not. By now there are only a few modules for 6.1 out there.

Hello! Assistance please :)

Well first of all I am jumping head first into all of this. I had a paid freewebs for a couple months and then recently got hosted by Ferocious and have a PHP able with is good. I understand that Drupal must be very advanced but I really am a fast learner (graduated at 15 and am pre-med ;] ). I just need a kind patient person to help me through setting this up. Now first, do I have to have a C-Panel to use Drupal? I was reading the set up instructions and it said set up through C-Panel. I don't have that. I do have a MySQL database although I am kinda rusty on how it works. I clicked the download Drupal 6.1 button and got a file my computer can't open and I'm not sure where to go from there. Pathetic I know.

My goal is to create a simple social networking type webspace. This is the closest I have found to what I am hoping for. My community is mainly moms and I have over 6000 members combined. They are all on various groups made through other websites because I can't figure out how to make my own member site. My friends at Vegefide told me I should try out Drupal.

Here is what I want-
-A member registration. When they register I want to know their Name, B-day, Marital Status, Occupation, # of Children, Location, and some other basic information
-Member Login and Logout

Mail Module Selection Help Needed!

I am looking for input for a system I'm doing with frequently changing user profiles.

For each user, I would like to email their profile to them each week with a reminder note to update their profile.

There are a bunch of mail modules out there and I'm hoping someone with some experience with them can help me with their expertise!

Thanks --

Missy
