Before you start

Once I download and install Drupal then should I buy a vbulletin license and download vbulletin?

I guess what I'm asking is in what order do I do things?
And, most importantly how?

Is drupal good for high traffic sites like facebook? can facebook be built on drupal? I am going through lynda.com's drupal essential training (video tutorials), and there i learned that drupal is not good for high traffic sites!!! is it so? It says that drupal is not good for million page views! is that true?

If yes then whats the best cms for a high traffic sites.. And all you geeks out there can you tell me what kinda cms does facebook / orkut uses? how are those sites built?

I am interested and have been interested in Drupal but it seems way over my head. I have a website that i would like to use drupal for instead of the current web application. I wold like to find a black theme. I also want to be able to eliminate certain elements for a page which my website will not need or use. Is it possible? or am I stuck with the parameters of the themes? I do not need a database as such - but a general web page.

i have used drupal for other sites and I like it. However, I am starting a new project and I'm not sure how possible this is.
