I´m thinking building a website for my country, it´s a social network / wiki style, i will explain.
I want to make a site that people can register and insert touristic information, for example. I want to insert a beautiful lagoon with title, description, photos and Google map location.
This "post" will have voting and comments so that people can right stuff about this Lagoon.
The site will have category inside category with sub category, ex: Island nº1 > Location > Touristic Spots > Nature > Lagoons.
I'm a web developer/designer that works for many clients, often older, who need things simple.
I custom-build templates for my clients on top of a CMS, so that they can both edit their site, and have a custom design. I've been using Joomla for a while now, and, for myself, it works great, but it is a pain to explain it to people, especially those who are older. They just can't grasp the Section>Category>Article concept.
Hi i would like to know if first we have to make a theme for the project before starting... as there is a lot in themes... so first i should make a theme or directly start with modules..?
Hi, actually I already downloaded drupal, but i don't seem to be able to figure out if and which plugins exist to do the following:
I want a student social database community website. Where students can make their profile, with information about themself, uni, age, avatar ect. and they can post articles under categories that are predefined by me the admin. For example im a student and i want to post something about shares under the finance category. Then the diffrent posts can be rated by other users, and a combination of rating and visits gives them a popular rating.
Posts should be able to embed slideshare.net slides in them, and display the info about the user that posted it.
The frontpage should only display a welkom about us message and for the rest be filled with an overview of newest posts and most popular posts(with thumbnail picture of the (if) used pictures in the posts). And a menu with all the existing categories and sub categories.
So what im looking for is: Social user system-> databse posting-> posts with info about poster displayed beside it-> frontpage that shows database popular posts. What im trying to do is make a youtube like site, but then without video's but with articles'.
Hello, I wonder if Drupal is good / could be easily customized for a following project I'm doing with my biz partner:
Project description:
social network for people who visit special restaurants. At start we will add new restaurants, later on I would like to have two types of users: companies (restaurants, bars, etc) and users.
