Before you start

Newbie question. What does my hosting service need to support in order to run a Drupal built web site?
Obviously php 5.x and mysql. What else? Do they have to say explicitly that they have installed Drupal and support it, or not?

Hi everyone.
I have just started planning a new website ( i dont even have a name or webspace for it yet )

Drupal looks like the way to go but one of the features I may want is the ability to have two different forums on the site. One would be there all the time and the other activated for a limited time, once in a while, for a specific purpose and would have to look slightly different.

Can the drupal forum (module ?) be installed twice to five two seperate forums using the same site login ?

I want to create a property with following fields
address1
address 2
city
state
zip
country = USA
bedrooms, bathrooms, pictures etc.

I am using CCK for this. What is the best way for adding county,state, zip as kind of drop down lists in this content?

i'm in charge to build a non profit newspaper, and i m looking on drupal that i have used in the past for other business sites.

My great dilemma is how to organize/categorize content and channels: more in deep i would to set up something like:

mydomain.com/city

where city are a list of cities eg city1 city2 city3 (approx300!!)

then have news.mydomain.com/city1 or news.mydomain.com/city2

what is the right approach to share a list of default categories (cities) with a default list of channells (news,shop,politics,sport..) ?

i have installed drupal5.15 on my fedora 8 os.but i m unable to run php scripts in it........plzz help

I would like to create a website where users can download sounds/samples/music that I create but not the usual way where you pay for per song/download. But the user can download all they want within a certain amount of time.

Here's some basic things I want to achieve with my website:

1. anonymous/registered users can browse the downloads section and read descriptions of what the download is but are not allowed to download any files.
