I'm thinking of learning Drupal to use on a series of related Websites (drawing design from common templates as well as individual site templates). I've been reading about phptemplate and see that it's pretty much straight PHP. Other apis have an xml layer to create more elegant syntax than straight php. I'm wondering if there are any modules or additions to Drupal's core now available or in the works to simplify working with Drupal's phptemplate? Or what recommendations as far as books and other resources I could consult for learning phptemplate? I don't want to learn PHP entirely.
First time visitor ready to download because of all the good reviews, but I have some questions before I start to see if this will work for me and my site.
(1) LANGUAGE: Though I'm an English speaker, my site (www.MissionePerTe.it) is in Italian. Is that going to be a problem?
I'm considering using Drupal to run a site offering resources to users, with the goal being an accessible "database" of info, organized by topic (healthcare, housing, finance, etc) as well as by region or geographic area (State? Zip Code?). Does anyone have examples of a similar implementations using Drupal? What modules would be needed to run this type of site?
I will probably be getting to know you guys quite well on here in the coming months. LOL. I have searched tediously through the modules and have not found what i am looking for. Are there any modules that keep track of registered user points? such as, if a user wants to pay another user (with these points) for an item, game, photo or whatever.
I would also like to have user profiles listed that have these "sell" items on their profile page with photo and price. Any ideas? I have limited HTML, CSS, and even more limited PHP knowledge. Thanks for your time!
