Before you start

Greetings!

I've been playing around with Drupal 5.x for a year or two on and off, so I'm fairly certain that I understand the workings of the basics of a Drupal based site. However I'm looking for suggestions as to what modules would best fulfill the needs for one of my upcoming projects. I have taken a look at the functionalities of different modules, so I know that there are certainly a ton that exist to meet what I'm hoping to accomplish.

Core Modules
I'd like the framework of my site to be such:

Ignore the username...I am clearly a neophyte. :) I was just having a hard time finding a username that was not in use.

Okay, what I need - I have developed any number of sites...most based on Java/Struts/Spring/etc...and several based on PHP. This time, I'd like to get a site up and running with little to no coding if possible. What I am wondering if I can get with Drupal:

• A web site that isn't really blog-based. It's more news- and information-based. It's going to be an HOA "portal" (but not really a portlet container per se).
• I need a public side that folks can get into without a login...and a private side that shows much more content once logged in.
• I need to support different user types...including one or more site admins, who can CRUD users and CRUD their roles/privileges...and editor types, who can be defined such that they can only edit pages that have been associated with them (or their role). Example, we might have a news page and only someone tagged with a "news editor" role can update it...but I would like more than one person to be able to be tagged with that role.
• I will need forums, calendaring, and file uploading/downloading outside of the forums.

I am very new to Drupal as I just started learning it some days ago. I want to develop a web site and found out that Drupal could be the right CMS for it. Although I have the idea of how exactly the web site should look like but I really don't know to build it with Drupal. I found some nice themes there but they are not exactly look like the web site in my mind. What steps I need to take to DESIGN a web with Drupal with minimum effort of writing html tags and PHP code. Can someone help ?

Hi Guys,

I have installed a copy of Drupal onto a clients server, added the required modules and the client has gone ahead and added their content to the site. All is working perfectly (of course), however, the client has now decided that they wish to change host and so the question I have is:

How I can do in the way that
the inserted input of users contact form will be showed only into users area and not directly in them email?

I'm going to be setting a few sites up and was wondering...what is better? To have one database with all sites or one database per site?

I can see a lot of advantages of sharing the database (such as user sharing), but still not sure what the best way to go is. Any suggestion?
