Before you start

Does anyone here have experience with Ektron Web Content Management? The association I work for is evaluating a CMS that we'll hope to migrate all of our systems (or at the very least, a good number of them) into over time. We've narrowed it down to either Ektron or Drupal. We'd love to hear a comparison from someone who's had experience working with both systems.

Hi all, I'm working on a project that involves creating a site with a list of deals available from various business entities in the city (mostly retail outlets without online presence).

On the page showing the deal, I'd like to place some info & an image of the product and deal as well as some information about the business offering this particular deal, such as: name, logo, address, opening hours etc.. below the deal information - basically so users can know where and how to claim the offer.

I'd also like to include a reverse feature to allow users to see all the deals of a particular business should they search for the business name in the site.

Can this easily be done with Drupal 7? If so what would be the best way to go around it? (Note: that all content will be submitted by the admin not the users)

Here is the info summed up:

Deal page will contain:
* Information about the product & deal it's self
* Information about the business offering the deal
* Information about the retail outlets of the business offering the deal (eg. Location/Address, contact details, opening hours ... )

Relationships between the info on the deal page:

A Deal is linked to 1 Business.
A Business can have many Deals.
A Business can have many retail outlets.

Hi all.... I am new to Drupal....Just a quick question... Is it possible to create a bidding website with drupal? And what are the steps to make this possible? Example: Modules etc....

I have several HTML and video files uploaded in a subdirectory of a website I'm working on. The website is not currently using Drupal. If I were to install Drupal 7, would the HTML files and videos still work? I tried using WordPress, and when WordPress was running, whenever I navigated to any of those files it would give me a 404 error. How will Drupal handle these files?

Hi everybody,

I'm pretty new to drupal (in fact i haven't started with it yet) and i hope this post will give me a clear path to follow (drupal recommended version, theme to use, modules needed, etc.) so i don't lose too much time with things i don't need.

These are the initial features i'm looking for:

- A header image with facebook, twitter etc. links over it or something like that.
- A typical horizontal menu (initially it doesn't have to be extensible but it should be in a future).
- A forum (with avatars option available)
- Able to use specific fonts in some places (or a way to place those as images).
- Flexible configurable background layout through images so the websice can be aesthetically decent. The site will be for a computer game, so i need it to be good looking.
- Videos in some places.

Initially the project will be small, but i would like the chosen drupal base to be flexible and potent so in a future i could add fancy effects and more dynamic content even if that gives me some more headaches in the beginning.

What do you recommend me?

Something like the revolution theme for drupal 7 would be enough for me if i could configure the layout and the elements background i think:

but that theme uses garland and i've read that Zen is the easiest (or at least that is what it's said)

I am looking to upgrade one of my sites from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 but need some advice on a replacement for the Acidfree module. It does not look like there will be a version of Acidfree for Drupal 7 for a while. It is frustrating that a single module holds up the upgrade of this site.

I need a gallery module that can cope with photographs and videos and also have per user albums. Also it must also allow content to be restricted to certain users.
