Is Drupal a viable solution for my website? Please review What is Drupal before posting.

Pretty new to Drupal, but maybe developing a site for a medical company.

Hi, I am pretty new to Drupal and CMS's in general. I have been working with Joomla on a few sites, really just sites that I have inherited. I do mostly visual design work, but I am getting more and more into the technical aspects of all web development and internet/intranet management. I have been approached to design and develop a web design for a small medical company (I presently am doing their graphic design and branding work.) They do pathology.

Help! selecting modules

Hi everybody. I am developing a Drupal application. This application is responsible for managing requests from the students at a University like documents, grades' revision and other kinds of school documents. Each document has a deadline. There will be an user (student) to add a request, a user to mediate (secretary) and in some cases, a user (teacher) will receive the request, answer and redirect it to the secretary which can finish the calling or solve it.

The main question is, what Drupal Module should I use?

Implementing a Donor Database inside of a Drupal Site

Hello all, I am VERY new to Drupal and my group has been tasked to create a donor database for an organization. I've been looking through documentation and I can't seem to understand or comprehend which module(s) could help us accomplish this.
My group has all of our tables, ERDs, and relationships set up, we just have no idea how to go about implementing them using Drupal.
Is Schema something that I need to be looking at, or am I going in the completely wrong direction?
Thank you for any help!

Total Newbie- Want to ask before I begin to learn this system

Hello to the vets of Drupal,
Before I begin let me say I am not a real good techie nor do I understand how to build web sites without an easy drag and drop like spruz or webs..
but I find myself needing a system that does much more than those systems... and I need to learn how to do it.
But before I begin my adventure I need to make sure this system can do what I need it to because I will be confused enough.. it will help that at least I know the system can do it.. it will be just me screwing it up haha.
Here is the basis of what I need my web site to do.
I wil try to give an example as best I can..
I need to have say 30 team leaders and each team leader may have 5 or 6 people under them. This team leader needs to be able to communicate in a forum or shoutbox style with each person.. here is the trick. when the team leader is writing to one person the others can not see the confidential material being written... and so forth with the person under the team leadfers material must also be confidential. Now my first thought was email.. but that has some limitations and it is not easy for my team leaders..
I almost need a group type setting with the leader having some sort of control panel which tells them who wrote to them and who did not and they can respond to eqach of them individually and confidentially.

Questions about drupal structure

Dear all!

I am newbie in drupal.

I would like to have a website with a blog features and community:
- a member can post a story with photos,
- other members can comment it
- there is a part of website like a normal one with a pages constructed by my side, which members should not change.

I read about drupal that there is possibility to have drupal website like I need it with blog and community. Could you please tell me, is there already available solution, or should I program it, for example database, etc ?

Really need help to clear my confusion!

Hi everyone,

First of I thank all who will answer my question in advance.

Now to my issue or issues I still can't determine which will it be or maybe I don't have an issue and just letting my research and excessive reading over the web get to my head.

I am originally a Designer & Photographer, I designing websites for the past 7 years now. In the past 4 years I have started making templates for Joomla CMs and have heavily depended on Joomla. Eventually I went over my fears and started learning PHP, and have come realize A LOT of things about the web and CMS's. I have started using PHP for the last 6 months and you can say I am still a beginner. So enough with the quick background summary. And Now...

I have come to realize that Drupal is the only logical choice to go for for the level I have reached with my clients and the services I have started to develop for them. When it comes to a quick simple site I always just use Joomla, but when I need something to depend on I realize that Drupal will save my butt from future disasters in performance and such and a "red face" moments with clients.

However, there is this huge issue with Drupal that is extremely bothering me. (Please remember I am come from a designer background).
