Before you start

My goal is to create a location for two types of users...one user type who uploads and maintains a list/database of files (only the list, not the actual files) and the other user type who can view said list, download list(again, list only, not the files) and comment on specific list entries. I also want them to be able to have a social interaction such as profile, messaging, and groups based on similar location.

I started my new project and going to use drupal, for better support am using Drupal 6.3.
But the database Requirement is Oracle 11g.

I worked on oracle 9i, so no issue with oracle DB.

Can u experts suggest me how drupal support oracle and what is a requirement to connect oracle database through drupal.

What is the best way for users to automatically be redirected to their own private page after login? I want to be able to post photo's and trip reports for each user/client.

Hope someone here can help me out. I have a site I am building and I need for the ability to setup a different type of structure than I have done in the past:

The site will need to have groups for different locations, and I would like to be able to determine the location of the user and take them to the nearest group by default when they visit the site. (something kinda like what craigslist does when you visit)

Anybody know where I can even start for something like this?
