I have never worked with Drupal but am considering it for a future project. I'm curious if content can be segmented or clustered such that different users, based upon permissions, are limited to different areas of content. For example, imagine content for a major university. You might want users within the medical school to have access to medical content while users in the law school would have access to the law content. Is this possible?

I want to host multiple websites/domains on my server, is it possible to use Drupal to manage them separately? Would I have to install Drupal in each domain directory?

I'm looking for some advice on the suitability of Drupal for a site I have been asked to develop for a client. It is essentially a Customer relationship/project management tool.
