Is it possible to have one single Drupal 7 installation to be a central content admin/service, and distribute content to multiple other installations of Drupal 7 (on multiple servers)? E.g. a group of companies having all content stored at the head office's Drupal 7 site, and all sub division's sites can have individual cores, themes and modules feeded from the central content source.
How to implement the search feature within a website which is managed entirely through the Drupal system. The search needs to return PUBLISHED documents (i.e., .doc, xls, pdf, etc.), and not html documents with search query.
Should i implement search feature with Drupal search module or Google Search Appliance(GSA) for the search. I am new to Drupal, but will Drupal search module can search for PUBLISHED documents (i.e., .doc, xls, pdf, etc.) only.
I'm a member of a huge german gaming network called Global Gameport. We host over 50 Fansites about games and more. It is all non-commercial.
We try to migrate all of our pages to drupal.
A main point that we want to be checked is a single or simple log on.
There are many project out there but nothing really good documented or heavily maintained.
All of our sites running under their own top level domain.
Because of the Anti XSS function of modern browsers, the easiest way with cookies is not working.
I have just bought the Definitive Guide to Drupal 7 and have a question. I currently have a number of development tools running in a Parallels Windows VM for non-Drupal PHP development (I am totally new to Drupal). These include PHP Storm and my EMS SQL Manager software for Postgresql (its Windows only). As you may also gather, this is hosted on a Mac, so, two potential installation targets.
I want to build a site without programming the entire thing in php/mysql which I usually do. But is Drupal for me?
Basically I want users to register and add events (event admin), anyone can add events that is registered. Then other registered users can view the title of these events and contact the event admin for more information and or to be added to the event. All users would also have a homepage or schedule to show all of the events they are attending.
I'm a long time geek (my first regularly paying computer job was in the 1970s) who is currently a DBA (Database Administrator) for a Fortune 100 company. I've built a number of websites ranging from dead-static HTML to Drupal 6, with the bulk of those sites currently running on various versions of XOOPS. I'm a firm believer in "do it right instead of doing it over" but also realize that sometimes you have to bow to necessity and get work done, then come back and incrementally improve on your effort as your skill set grows.
As a webmaster I'm purely a hobbyist so far, but that may change soon. I've built sites for a few groups that I belong to like Masons/Shriners, churches, etc. I've built and maintain a couple of personal sites for topics that interest me. Now I'm being approached by several friends that own small businesses who want me to help them build their web site and their Internet presence so I'm considering buying a hosting account that will allow me to resell web sites for them.
