This days I'm trying to choose what CMS to use for my new project. It is a Language courses webpage. I have been playing and reading a lot about wordpress and it seems pretty nice but there are things that are a little weak. For example, for a CMS it is a must to be able to easily create your new types (In my case courses, schools, etc...) been able to add data externaly (through a webservice, etc...) and let the system run smooth. I found a plugin called "Pods" that is nice but seems a little hack to me in wordpress and do not give full control.
Hopefully this isn't too much of an odd question but.......
In regards to security, is it possible to have a drupal installation where there is no public (internet) url login i.e. the drupal site is managed within a private network, then published to the internet. I am very new to Drupal and it seemed a valid security question raised by a colleague. From the Drupal websites we have seen, if you append the ?q=user/login to the url you get presented the login screen to their system, which didn't seem great. Or is there a better way to handle this?
Hello everyboby,
i am quite new with drupal, studying d. mercer's book last few weeks but still have so many doubts, hope someone may help me :-)
1) is it the same to install drupal7 locally on windows system (i have done it on win xp with easyphp) or ubuntu? or the 2nd may be better when you have to trasfer it to apache hosting?
2) as my old laptop is getting tired how to trasfer my d7 site to other pc? just copy and paste the folders or have to install everything new and then copy which folders to new installation?
Hi all, I'm a Drupal newbie but no novice to CMS. I'm trying to achieve something with Drupal 7 but drawing a blank. So I'm wondering whether the out of box functions can support it.
The concept is to allow each user to have their own portal, showing just their content and views filtered by that user. The will also be a main site that shows content from all users.
For a school project I need to create a website that is similar to fmylife.com. It needs to have a registration system, user generated content, a voting system, and a large admin control panel to moderate the entire thing. This is for a real client outside of class so the site will be live but we are unpaid and graded on it.
