Are you brand new to Drupal? Join Acquia's "hello drupal" free course online!

At Acquia, we developed the free "Hello Drupal" course to help local Drupal communities welcome in new members who were curious about Drupal.

Read more here to find out what "Hello Drupal" is: http://training.acquia.com/hellodrupal

However, we are aware that not everyone has access to a vibrant local community. Our partner, Telamenta in South Africa can appreciate that as well, with a geographically dispersed population. That is why Patrick Frickel and I are facilitating Hello Drupal online for the first time.

Who is it for? This is for people who have never used Drupal before. Please pass this invitation along to anyone you know who is brand new to Drupal.http://learndrupal7.drupalgardens.com/

Who is it not for? If you know what a module is, and you've made content types and views before, you might find this course a little slow for you.

Using Drupal for Resource Sharing and Management Site

Hi,
I'm new to Drupal, and I want to create a community site to manage and share resources where

.htaccess ruins the installation - totally messed up options have to be cleaned up.

hello dear folks,

wanted to discuss a strange error with you - a very very a strange error. I have installed joomla in a subfolder.
Imagine - i had installed it first to this folder /home/vhost/WWW/schulcenter.org/drupal

what i got as a result was serious errors all the way...

Then i thought of some misconfiguration on my server - and i tried another folder.

/home/vhost/WWW/schulcenter.org/tmpo/

i first put into this folder a php_info.php-file - and it was visible... AFTER the installation (that is the upload) of the drupal-files - it (the php_info.php-file) was not visible at all.

well - believe it or not - the error is a drupal error. duhhh ;-(

Advice on developer's time for new project

We're totally new to Drupal, and have been advised that it would be a better solution than WordPress for our basic ecommerce site.

Times quoted to take a basic WordPress theme and convert to a Drupal ecommerce site from one developer are:

Move current site into Drupal (from simple WordPress theme) - 5 days (40 hours)
Install ecommerce module - 10 days (80 hours)
Data import routine to allow CSV import from our database - 10 days (80 hours)

These figures don't mean much to me - is the decimal point in the wrong position?
