The subject actually puts the question. Is it possible? Would be real helpful for people like me who have time to read paper but not that much time to read on screen.
Hi,
My company writes iPhone apps that use web based APIs to search for real estate properties. The app sends a search string through HTTP with parameters for things like number of bedrooms, suburb, price range, etc... in the http request, and we get XML back with all matching records. Our iPhone app then displays that content. We would like to host this sort of database ourselves instead of relying on others.
Would Drupal be a good way of setting this up?
Thanks in advance.
David
I on my my to build a quite complex site where I think Drupal would be a great platform. But - i need some tip / advices to choose modules.
My need is:
A top level menue at the top of the page which represents the sites main categories (ex. cars, boats, motobikes). Each category menu links to an own startpage with an own colortheme and own mainmenu. when pressing a mainmenu a submenue will apear at the sidebar.
I have plenty of experience with concrete5, some experience with joomla and wordpress. Now i am trying to figure out if i can learn drupal fast enough to create a corporate portal in a decent time. I have no idea how long it takes to develop what i assume to be a medium size portal so its difficult to make estimates to the customer.
The portals i have seen so far here have all been running joomla, i know a few things about joomla so that makes me think that developing a portal cant be that hard, but i dont want to do it with joomla because when i used it i just couldn't bear myself to like it. I dont think Concrete 5 can handle real portals so that's out of the question, i have implemented a small "intranet" solution with concrete 5 but it wasn't very ideal.
I have been told that the portal will essentially mimic this: http://www.ryhmarakennuttaminen.fi. Run it thru google translate and you should get a good idea what it is. There are all kind of things like links by category, information banks where people can download materials for seminars. Discussion tab which i need to be able to style extensively, i assume that drupal modules can be styled as easily as for example concrete5's. One requirement is also a calendar of events where there are links to other pages.
My sons scout troop currently have a very basic website created with wordpress. I was in the process of designing a website and was also using wordpress, however 3/4 of the way through development I had to scratch the entire project due to it's size and the fact that wordpress could not handle the scale of what I was creating.
I then decided to create the website in Joomla which I started on a few days ago but I am not pleased with the results. Here is what I am trying to do. The website will have several main menus, and many of those menus will have sub-menus and some of the sub-menus will have sub-menus. The site will have about 100 pages and will have dozens of menus, so menu structure is critical linking various pages, categories, etc. I found Joomlas built in menu systems lacking.
