A Good soultion for me?

Hey guys,

I'm currently searching for a KMS/DMS/CMS system for our archiving system. We are currently pulling files off the main file server (Widnows Share) and burning them to DVD's, then entering that info into a separate application so we can find whats on what DVD. I'm looking to store everything on live storage instead but want to use a CMS/DMS system because of the integrated database, and the ability to tag files/folders for easy document retrieval.

Interfacing Drupal with a Subversion repository to list pdf stored there

Hello,

We are considering migrating our multiple websites and documents repository to drupal.

Our scientific publications are stored in a SVN repository (the latex source and the resulting PDF). Each paper is stored within its own sub-directory of the repository. There is a metadata file in each sub-directory to point to the pdf and to provide information about the paper.

We would like to be able to list the resulting PDFs on one of our pages in Drupal.

Collaborative Drupal development and data silos - workflow question.

So I think Drupal can solve our a lot of our problems, technically. I'm still too new to do it all yet, but I see a pathway to building the system we need for our geek-community-center (hackerspace)

What I have concerns about is the collaboration of developers - not all of whom can have access to the data in the database. We are a codey bunch (php, python, mysql fluency) but we are also a lazy bunch and so what Drupal makes easy appeals. We do have a project lead (me) who'll do a lot of the work, but I need to develop in a way that lets people pitch in.

Newbie needs help with external article / thumbnail module..

Hello everyone,

I would love some help on this problem. I'm trying to help my school's humanitarian branch build their website. I've been a web designer (emphasis on designer) for a bit now, but have never worked in drupal.

What they want me to do is build a "featured (external) articles" section on the sidebar of the front page. Basically it would include a thumbnail image, article title, and author, all linking to an external site where the articles actually are.

Here's my mockup of what the "featured articles" section would like on their website (located on the top of the sidebar):

So I think in terms of functionality it needs to be easy for these people to go into the admin page and upload thumbnails, article titles, links, etc.

Is there an easy way to do this? I'm looking at the link image field module but I don't think it's exactly what I need..

Any help would be super appreciated!

Thank you so much in advance.
