Hello All,
Just wondering what what stacks people use for their local servers. Wamp, Xampp Damp, or other. I'm somewhat of a newbie to this environment but am excited to learn all the in and outs. I've used Xampp and Wamp with success. Never used Damp. Please let me know why this is your favorite software.
Thanks, Jacob
I'm not sure if this should go here or in Post Installation. I have successfully installed Drupal and am now trying to actually start designing my site. I've read a lot of the guides here and books from the library and watched tutorials, but I don't think I've gotten it yet. I've found definitions of articles, nodes, tags, ect. and descriptions of how Drupal organizes things, but I'm a visual (and auditory) learner and these don't let me get my head around how everything relates. I need to see a visual representation of an overview of the organizational structure.
I want to set up a site, which should allow people to register. On the one hand there a people, who are looking for an service and other people, who offer the service. Through this (we can call) it community site this two groups should find each other.
After browsing the Internet, the only convincing system was Drupal. Now I want to download the right distribution - do you have a recommendation for a site with those requirements?
I've just started to work for an influential environmental think tank in the UK, comms sector. In the past I had experiences of "classic comms", so relations with media contacts and press, but now part of my job involve also the online communications, including the development of our website and our presence on social networks. Currently, we are running our website with an Ektron CMS which is quite old and not that flexible. Before I moved in, the communications team had requested some quotes to specialized company in order to develop a new bespoke CMS and didn't consider the opportunity of moving to an open source.
However, doing a quick research online, I started to be interested in the topic and going further I collected some interesting information about Typo3 and Drupal which looked to me as the most suitable systems for our organisation. I would like to use the opportunity given by this community to know what the experts think about our case and maybe have some advices about Drupal.
I'm realizing that is quite difficult to write about "what we need" so I'll start just with some functionality related to the daily updating and maybe, I'll go further after the replies by forumists.
I'm planning to make a website like imdb.
How to organize a site like IMDB using drupal 7.x?
Example: A person is a director now, but was a actor, even a composer (eg. Clint Eastwood). On IMDB person's profile page, there artworks display to show their role in each artwork.
So how can i seperate these information correctly. Which part should use taxonomy, which should be used as content type.
Preface: I have always use Wordpress for all the websites I made and I'm new to Drupal. I bought a 1100 page book about Drupal and I'm finding very interesting.
Me and my friends would like to create a website to share pictures and vectors for free, with a blog and advertising inside. Something like Fotolia or Shuttlestock, but free, so no e-commerce modules are needed. Plus, user should login to download things.
