Before you start

Hi, I am a new member in the community.

I built a Drupal 7 site on our dev subdomain and soon will want to move it to our main domain. The only content are nodes without images. What is the best practice for moving the dev site and db to a live domain without too many hiccups along the way? Thanks much.

I'm new to forum and have looked through a lot of forum topics before posting myself but I still need some guidance.

I want to create 3 sites - one for my mum which will be a small scale ecommerce site (selling homemade knitted goods), one for my sister (actor - portfolio site) and one for my daughter (music blog).

I know I want to use drupal 7 for these sites (I manage a site that is drupal 6 and I want to learn more about the back end of sites and find out more about drupal 7). I don't however know who to host them with.

I am new to drupal and been advised to use drupal with my website.
i've got a lot of educational stuffs in our company library including video tutorials and ebooks.
But I am afraid that most of them for Drupal v.6.
So my question is shall I go ahead and use Drupal 6 for my website to make the best usage of the educational stuffs we have got ?
Please advise.

I am new to Drupal and want to practice using the system by installing it locally on my PC (Windows 7). I am very interested in doing this via the DAMP Stack, but have ran into error messages trying to run just the installation files for both Drupal 6 or 7. The error message says "Installer payload installation failed. This is likely due to an incomplete or corrupted file."

Can someone interpret this for me? Am I out of luck for installing on this computer, short of making some kind of changes to coding and/or scripts?
