First off I am brand new to this site, so may appear to be more than a bit clueless.
I am a bookseller, not a progrrammer, and I do have OSCommerce up and running, as well as Drupal and Wordpress tethered to my main site for general info and basiic interactive blogging.
So I am a *little* familiar with CMS (a totally different beast from a PHP database driven software ecommerce specific site. ).
What i need advice for is a world apart form what is on my booksite.
I am trying to set up an info and blogging site for community residents. One which will have news reports, essays, even small history books displayed online, in what in total ignorance of blogospeak i call 'sections'
I can prolly deal with those as stand alone elements, but it is critical that the community be able to add elements of their own, as well as comments directly readable under existing ones.
I tried something like thin on my Wordpress booksite blog, but it didnt like user replies under sections, and I had to hack it to get what I wanted, though it was totally inelegant.
I am hoping to avoid this with Drupal.
I would like all town members access, but final editiorial control.
Something like this has had to have been done hundreds of times before.
