I'm just looking at a few different CMS at the moment and I'm leaning towards drupal but have a few outstanding questions before I make the choose. Any thoughts or assistance greatly appreciated.
1. I'm looking to register users and I was planning to store their details in a mysql database. I presume this is fairly straightforward to do?
Looking for advice/tips on a project. It will be a very targeted listing site with the ability of searching the internal DB of listings on as many as 40 different options (most simple yes/no check boxes). Any guidance would be appreciated.
I am a beginner using Drupal and i need some advice on how to set up an episode guide & cast guide to match this site rangercentral.com. I want to learn how to do this right and not waste too much time running around clueless with this.
Hey all. I've done a bit of probing around the FAQs and this forums and links to hosts but I havn't exactly seen stuff to help me with my dilema.
I'll paint the piture maybe a bit too completely but here it is:
Action Point: I need to choose a host
Premise: I’m thinking I need either a private server or a vps (looking for feedback on the situation) I’d like to have some control on all upgrades and be the ultimate arbiter in when to upgrade Drupal versions or php versions etc.
Problem: I don’t know what I’m doing at all in terms of running a server. I was able to teach myself how to program from scratch (like not really knowing what an array was) reading books on Ruby and Ruby on rails on 5/6 years ago and get a fairly complex custom MVC application working on my home computer (not a blog or a cookbook but something with entirely different data structures and user- level interrelations). I collapsed into a state of mental panic and self-doubt at the prospect of migrating the program. Somehow version control scared me irrationally. Code isn’t scary for me.. Shell commands cause me to shriek in agony … I can’t tell you why exactly. But even worse than shell commands is some window’s driven thing that tries to guess what I want.
