Document management for end users

I work as the digital content manger for a private special education school. Many of our teachers and administrators have documents to share and work on with others at one of our campus locations. I built an Intranet site using traditional HTML and added a WordPress site for community building. I'm looking to move both the HTML-based website and WordPress community into a Drupal platform. But before I get into learning an entirely new way to think, a few big question remains.

Creating an Internet-auction

Hi!
My name is Mary I'm from Moscow, my company would like to create a new site on drupal, but we have a problem, cause the main aim of our project is Intenet-auction in real time, so we want to ask you- can we use this system for this project? Some programmers said use, that it's impossible to make internet-auction, which will be working in real time quickly. Can you help us to decide this problem? maybe you can give me recommendations?

Website designer with no programming experience

I am a website designer (very little programming knowledge) who is looking for a CMS that can help me build and maintain dynamic sites by myself. In the past , I have been using a CMS that I had developed for my business, http://www.pixelhead.net, many years ago. It was a robust CMS that was initially created for me to build Websites for Members of Congress. The problem is that my developers have gone on to pursue other interests and my CMS is no longer supported. I currently have 7 or 8 websites that I'd like to rebuild with Drupal and a couple of new clients that I'd like to create Drupal sites for. But, at this point, I feel like a person who owns a restaurant that can't cook! I have been researching many different solutions and believe I may have found one in Drupal.

I am looking for broad, brushstroke advice from other designers who have limited programming experience, but have found success with Drupal. These are just some of my questions:

1. Is it even possible for someone like myself to take an original design, break it up and build a site with Drupal?
2. Are using templates, such as Fusion, the way to go?
3. I do not want to maintain any type of hosting environment. What solutions and hosting providers have you found to be the best for hosting multiple sites, upgrades, cost, etc.

Photo Database

Is it logical to build a photo database, like this?

I want it to have these features:
-users can upload their pictures and input information such as date, location, category, etc
-pages to display the image with information inputed during the upload
-search engine that allows users to search for photos based on each field that was entered in during upload

Drupal for as a POS for an Eyewear Store

Hello all,

We have a very old POS that is essentially three forms connected to a SQL backend. I want to clone it with Drupal and then add on to it. To clone it, I need:

  • A section to add new patients
  • A section to add new sales
  • A search to find existing patients for repeat sales so that we can have a history of sales for each patient

I've started playing around with D7 and have built the form for new patients. I added a new content type ,Patients, and some fields like name, address, number, measurements.
