i have one question... we have EMC Documentum... we want connect Documentum to Drupal (load datafiles, texts, images)... do you have any experience or tips for the commercial solutions?

Right now, there's not even an Excel file for most of this information. They are a small non-profit, with basically no overhead budget (all the staff personally fundraise for their own salaries). They are very low-tech and need something quite simple. And I'll be honest, I'm not very tech-minded myself.
I belong to a bike club, sbraweb.org, and our web site is written in Drupal. We have around 800 members. The site is painfully slow. I takes 17 seconds for the site to come up, and 12 seconds to go to a typical page like "recent posts."
We have been told the site is slow because of a problem with our web hosting company, they don't have expertise in Drupal, etc. But I wonder if it isn't simply the way the site was built (by a non-expert web programmer).
In my website, users will be redirected to a "frontpage" page where they will be able to see the latest news, their special announcements, their own materials, etc. Now I have to use DB to retrieve all those information.
I also want to use caching for this purpose so the data on their frontpage refresh every 3 hours let's say instead of each visit.
