Prestashop v Drupal

Hi, I have previously built a website using Prestashop - http://www.shreddersdirect.com.au . I am planning on building another website to sell fridges. Does anyone know any advantages to building it in Drupal, I hear the SEO is better and it's easier to add guest blogs and would like an alternative to Prestashop which is time consuming to update.

Drupal on any Cloud

Hi everybody,

I work for a company that develops an Open source product that enables you to install Drupal on every cloud.

I am not sure that this is the right place to publish it and I don't really know what's allowed and what's forbidden "here" in this community, so I am not publishing the name of the product, nor am I publishing the company's name, so I won't be attacked :) .

With our product, you can manage your Drupal's life on the cloud during the installation and after it.
Here are a few examples of what it can do:

  • Your Drupal site crashed? - We will revive it for you. You won't have to do anything.
  • Your Drupal breaches a pre-defined threshold? – We will allocate new machines (on the cloud) for you on the cloud. These machines will be identical to the ones you already have and we'll connect them all, to a Load Balancer.
  • Wanna update/upgrade your Drupal on a Cloud? Want to update the DB (MySQL or something else) without accessing the cloud machines? – We do that too.
  • Need to monitor the load on your Drupal? CPU? Memory? Any other Metric ? – We have also built a great Web UI.
  • And more…

We would love to give you more info about it.
Can I expose the product's name and additional details here?
If not, it will be really nice if someone tells me where I can do it.

A marketers/developer/designers perspective and requests for D8

My background is marketing and my hobby is web design/development. As a marketer first and a developer second, my approach to building a site is probably different than the average Drupal power-user. I tend to approach building a website with visitor ease of use in mind first, then manager/developer second, and editor/contributor last. I know several fellow developers who disagree with this approach, but my opinion is that the visitor is the priority, if they don't find the site and use the site then whats the point of the site, but I digress.

Anyway, I was recently rehired by my former employer to develop a new website for them. This is a complete upgrade from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. As a side note, I've worked in Drupal since D5, managed a D6 (for former employer) site for two years, and over the past year I've built a dozen or so sites in D7 and with every one I have learned a bit more about Drupal. I know Drupal is an evolving platform and things get better with each release.

I say that to hopefully provide some credibility to my credentials so that what I say in the following isn't seen as a newbie just complaining because he doesn't know Drupal.

Add configurable time format on DRUPAL.ORG

Please, add the ability to change time format to standard 24-hours. Currently we are tied to use "AM/PM" time format which is convenient only for U.S./British users. The rest of the world don't use neither AM/PM nor miles/foots/pounds/ounces. We use 24-hours format and meters/grams.
