About the Feature Module

If you are building a lot of similar Drupal sites, you may find yourself rebuilding a lot of the same content types, views, and panel pages. Features Module helps solve those problems by allowing you to export those content types, views, panel pages, and other settings, into a Drupal module.

The next time you need that functionality, simply drop in and install your Drupal features module and you will be good to go.

There is an even deeper level of respect for this module when you start talking about development/staging and live/production environments. If you create a content type and view in a development environment, and want to get that synced to the live environment, there is no better way than the Drupal features module.

This module gets version controlled and can easily be pushed to the live environment. If you aim to become a serious Drupal developer, you can't live without the feature module.

Demo ( Ex: menu structure) :

Step 1 : Installed and enable the Feature Module from which website need the menu structure (Taken main menu) from one of the Website.

Step 2 : Go to Structure>Features, below select the menu links which are you want, including drop down menus.

Step 3 : After selection of links click on download, It gives the .tar file.

What do you guys think about Drupal Con?

Hi there,

I was just wondering what your experiences were at DrupalCon, or what you have heard about it?

I'm really new at web development (a bit over a month now), and am really liking it. I know basic HTML and CSS...and the rest I just work off of Drupal Core and the provided module. I plan on learning PHP within the next two or three months (certainly before the next DrupalCon).

Considering my experience level, do you think it would be worth it for me to go to DrupalCon?

Thanks!

How to start working in drupal?

Hi,
I am new to drupal.I just installed drupal today. But I don't know how to start working on this.

Can some one please share some information like web links or some ebooks which can be helpful to start learning the drupal.

Single Line Field Description for Modules

I, and I'm sure every single user of the Drupal.org website would enormously benefit from a single-line 200 character description of what a contributed module/theme does. I appreciate this would take a lot of effort perhaps, but would make finding modules and identifying what they do much easier.

eg.

Help wanted - Please read if you're a module or theme developer

First of all, this is not an advertisement. This is just inviting community members to share their ideas on our plan.

We created a simple Drupal module for our product http://acobot.com but have no resources to get it go through approval process or maintain it in the future.

As we recently published our affiliate program, which shares 30% of monthly recurring payment, we're considering to invite Durpal community members to pick up the job. Our idea is a member or a group of members can create a Drupal modules and/or themes that help Drupal site owners integrate Acobot services with their websites.

While we will not directly pay for the work, the members can embed affiliate links in the modules/themes. All customers follow the links to sign up in 60 days will be credited to their Acobot affiliate accounts. We will pay the affiliates lifetime 30% commission for each paying customer they refer. For more information on our affiliate program, see http://acobot.com/affiliate.

We have created a WordPress plugin and it works pretty well in sending people to our website. See wordpress.org/extend/plugins/acobot/ . We haven't promoted it actively but the plugin was downloaded for about 14,000 times in the passed 12 months. I think a well-maintained and promoted Drupal module might be able to achieve similar performance.
