basic image won't display (D7)

I must be missing something obvious -- hoping someone can help.

On my brand new install of Drupal 7, I created a content type with a field of type image. The image uploads correctly and is present on the file system (sites/default/files) with correct permissions, but the thumbnail next to the upload control shows a broken image, and the content page display does not attempt to provide a URL for the image at all.

I must have skipped some configuration step, but can't figure out what it is.

Upgrade from D6 to D7 (currently building in D6)?

http://drupal.org/node/307129

I began the process of building a Drupal installation on my local site a few months ago and am still in the building stage. The more I create the more scared I get about ever upgrading to a D7 Installation (REFERENCE: http://drupal.org/node/307129 )

These are some of the modules (data!) that I am concerned with losing in an upgrade from D6 to D7:

CCK
Views
Chaos
Panels
Fivestar
Advanced Profile Kit (if i upgrade what happens to this???)
Voting API
Content Taxonomy
Image Gallery
Webform
Petition Nodes

I am still actually trying to get a handle on Views and Panels and how to integrate the Advanced Profile Kit into my site using all available components. But, as I work, I see that all these modules are already (and rightfully so) migrating to D7 where D6 will not be maintained any longer. Good example of this is the Advanced Profile Kit.

So if I have hundreds of users who all have a profile, a track record, tons of stars having rated eachother and provided tons of feedback in the form of comments, should I not be concerned with upgrading to a D7 installation once the Drupal Community has fully developed D7?

Redirect specific user to a specific page upon login?

Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a simple way (read: module?) that will redirect a specific user to a specific URL once she/he is logged in? Our site will have a photo manager, and we want to redirect him/her right to the upload page upon login, but don't know how to do it.

I've looked at the Login Toboggan module - http://drupal.org/project/logintoboggan - but it doesn't seem to be exactly right...

Thanks!

Overlay animation: a vote against

I'm a few weeks new to Drupal and to a cms - I'm very glad I chose Drupal.

I've been a user for about twenty years and I develop W32 programs and SQL databases to support my research.

Today I decided to explore info on how close we are getting to the release of D7 and I read one instructor's comment that he is already using D7 for his new students, so I decided to install D7.

Aside from the standard error that at least many are getting, the install was a success and instructive about how good the install.txt is in telling you what you need to know, and it was empowering because now I'm not limited to the versions that my hosting company makes available.

However, I soon found myself held hostage to a horrific CPU hog and bug that is challenging our devoted developers:

http://drupal.org/node/615130

Aside from the enormous resources this bug is drawing from the development community, I am _greatly disappointed_ that this community of wonderful developers has decided that Drupal will be a better web development tool with a large (animated?) graphic overlay to provide access to all of the menu items under Administer.

Why are we better of with the added resources of flash-type graphics for our day-to-day menu selections?

where did can I find CCK Node reference module for Drupal 7?

As I know, node reference not included in drupal 7 core, but where can I find it?
Thanks.
