Hi, I've only ever set-up Drupal (5.1) for my own single-user blog-site (oracle.podzone.org if your curious), and now, finally, have the chance to introduce Drupal (6.2) into my work.
Our team has an ancient Documentation-System running on Lotus-Notes that I'd like to port. Leaving aside the migration of documents for now, with my limited experience configuring Drupal I'm having trouble visualizing the finished system.
So, I'm going to describe the current system, and hope some kind person will come-back with the best way to mimic it in Drupal. Off-course, I dont want an exact duplicate, this is supposed to be a giant leap forward. But something the team will feel familiar with would be great.
I don't login directly, but that's probably because it's embedded in the Notes email client. My name's on an internal list, somewhere, so I can open secure spreadsheets etc to get passwords and other secure stuff.
The main-page is split into right-side and left-side. The left-side has menu-items like
- search
- list documents by customer
- by author
- by date
....
- all documents
If I select By-Author, for example, I get an expandable list of names in the right-hand-frame. If I expand my own name - I see the titles of documents I've written.
