Converting to Drupal

I've got my group interested in busting free from google groups and hosting their own discussions, but we're not sure where to start. Google hasn't been much help, nor have I found any obviously pertinent hits searching drupal.org. Hints, suggestions, and pointers greatly appreciated.

The company I'm working with has a site in Plone (with a Zope database) and is considering migrating it to Drupal. However, I've heard that since Zope is an object-oriented database the migration, which in this case would involve thousands of files and multiple gigs, could be prohibitively time-consuming and difficult. Does anyone have thoughts on this? Anyone know of a successful migration of a significantly large site from Plone to Drupal? Any scripts out there? Anyway, thanks for any insight you can provide.

Not sure if this is possible. But currently have a forum running on PHPBB on windows using SQL05 for the DB. I'm wanting to either export the whole lot to to a Drupal forum or just the messages if possible. I have had a look at modules like PHPbb and PHP2drupal but with little joy. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi first message for a frenglish speaker...

I would like in a first time recreate my existing website with Drupal6. I have actually 2 importants sectors : Directory and classifields.

My actual directory is around 1000 categories and 6000 users and I would like to create a one submit page for categories and personnal informations:

country, state, city,... and differents check box options each time that someone select one is website will be submitted in all selected categories ( ex : France, Ile de france, Paris, and check box selected...)

In the front site, i would like to show websites like classic web directory. with additional options (more info*- hit - vote- recommand-- comments)

After and it's why i decide to recreate all with drupal, i would like a page information about the website/user which give more informations like see all the classifields if he created one or more, and in the futur, all addons like organic group member or admin, forum subject....

For the classifields section i would like to use the same or similar behavior to post ads and have similar fonction on each ad page( vote, recomand,..may be in the ads listing too..)

okay, so i have to convert a site that is currently on Joomla to Drupal- no problem,

but where are my tools for this content organization system !? i go to make static pages and i just get text boxes ?

also, I want to know how to make sections for this content ? I've been reading tutorials and it's just frustrating to me .
