Translate drupal handbook to portuguese

hi!

I need to translate drupal Documentation to portuguese. How can I do this at the same time with other people? What is the easier way?

Thanks
Leo

i broke some url aliases when changing language

Hello,

my drupal site has got the pathauto and url aliases installed. Everything works fine, the aliases are created and updated correctly.

Now i've just tried to add a new language (italian), and set it as the default.. Well, on my homepage the first (lastest in cronological order) 2 stories simply "lost" their aliases. I mean, their url was once again in the old /node/id format... While all the other pages i checked were just fine...

How is it possible?

Thanks!

Difference between Internationalisation and Localisation

I was trying to figure out how to go about providing my site into other languages format.
I explore Internationalisation (i18n) module and found out that it works out pretty decent in the translation
(after installing the languages from http://drupal.org/project/Translations ).

Comparing Multilingual Handling in Drupal 5 v. Drupal 6

A bit out dated, and not sure how much of it has changed, but probably still worth a look for many of you.

http://www.developmentseed.org/blog/internationalization/comparison_chart

The 1st 2 comments really captured my attention here:

Take i18n module for Drupal 5 for example. Translating a node/term means creating a new one with the new language and associating the translated nodes/terms. This contradicts to the semantics of localization (i.e., there is a single entity which has multilingual properties) and therefore makes many modules not cooperate with the i18n system (e.g. Taxonomy Defaults).

the drupal 6 version of i18n will support both approaches: localizable terms and truly multilingual taxonomies.

There's already a beta version.

I've hired a developer and we're in the middle of developer a multi-lingual site in D5, and one of the problems I've encountered is exactly that! Translations create separate nodes and they don't share the comments! I don't mind the URLs being different, as I think that can be corrected w/ pathauto:

en/node/1 --> en/beautiful
ja/node/2 --> ja/beautiful (OR) ja/きれい

How to translate this part of e-commerce into French

Hello,
A client contacted me today asking me if on http://smartavi.com/products/SLI100.htm the words "Applications" and "Features" could be translated into French from english. Do you know where I should make changes in order to utalise such translation? Drupal is equipped with e-commerce plugin where the product's details are uploaded and I assume that this text is part of the e-commerce plugin, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

Thank you.
