Multilanguages in UTF-8...

Hi all,

I need to create pages with multi-language text such as Russian or Arabic together with the English using utf8. One of the tasks is to present a country's name using its own language. I generally can do this by collecting its name in official language (native tongue) from the wiki source. But on occasions, this language appears not capable of showing properly. For example, for Combodia, I have a page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodia, but its country name is all like this, a I copypasted here:

drupal not showing international characters

I have a problem with international characters.

The page I have uses custom php code to query an mssql database. Some characters: è à etc are not displayed in drupal - but when the custom code is on a page on its own - it shows without a problem. The page in drupal shows weird characters like etc

help anyone?

What is the correct way to change the links to the handbook pages in the D7 core strings?

In D7 strings, placeholders are used to add links to handbook pages. For example:

<a href="@handbook_url">

documentation-japanese group is planning on translating the handbook and I would like to know the links should be changed. Should we hard-code the link to the translated nodes, or is there another way?

user warning: Illegal mix of collations - i18n Block translation

Hello!

I'm trying to build a malti-language website. So, I need to add translation to each block and menu in my website. To do so, I need to enable "Block translation" & "Menu translation" from admin/build/modules.

So far so good! As I've already done the exact same task on another website.

The problem is: when I enable the "Block translation" module, I got this error message:

Language swticher leading visitor to home page for chosen language

People, I really need help with this, it's about keeping my job.
Do you know how to do what I've described in the title? Switcher should always lead a visitor to home page for chosen language no matter on what page visitor clicked that language on.
