Problems (probably clean URL related) after D7 upgrade

I've just been attempting to upgrade various sites that I have installed on the same codebase to Drupal 7.

I've run update.php on a couple of the sites & everything appeared to go smoothly. It dropped me back to the admin page afterwards.

However... I found straight away, that any admin pages that I clicked on gave a "not found" error.

Looking into it in more detail, I noticed that the admin page it sent me to was at http://mysite/?q=admin but the pages that are not loading are all using the clean urls. I can go to the page to test clean urls, if I type in the non-clean url address for it, but it shows up a 404 after I hit the test button.

At the moment, I can't manage to do anything much, as Drupal seems to think clean URLs are working, but clearly they are not.

Clean URLs worked fine with D6.

I've checked that the .htaccess file uploaded correctly. I had never customised the .htaccess file with D6.

One factor that may be relevant is that I run drupal in a sub-directory, but with the re-write configured not to show the sub-directory in the URL. I've had it set up this way for years with no problems & it doesn't involve the .htaccess files within the Drupal directory.

Setup is as follows:

/cms (this directory is the base drupal directoryl)
/site1
/site2
etc

No content display after upgrading from drupal 6.2 to 7.

Hi guys, after upgrading from drupal 6.2 to 7,
There was supposed to be some contents there for me to click and make the website online, but it cannot be displayed.

I did the upgrade in the rush and did not back up the database. The first time I ran update.php, it was redirected to update.php?op=info. Then I removed all the old modules I kept in the modules folder, it starts to update, but with some errors, like timezone and locale. The update finished, and I end up with this....

Anybody got any clue where I could start from? Thank you!

Problem with file or directory permissions during upgrade 6.20 to 7

On the step of the upgrade when I open update.php and start DB upgrading, the porblem occurs:

"The specified file temporary://fileAKOs2U could not be copied, because the destination directory is not properly configured. This may be caused by a problem with file or directory permissions. More information is available in the system log."

I googled for some time and, according to engoogled information, I switched global safe_mode of PHP to "Off" (local, I mean for that virtual host account it was already off). That didn't help.

In fact, problems started a bit earlier, the first problem was that max_execution_time and max_input_time (or smthg like that) of PHP was 60 and it seemed to be not enough for the update.php script to successfully check all of the requirements. I changed both to 180 and it worked.

Then I decided to start upgrade inspite of that the first problem I mentioned appeared. 49% of upgraded was successfull, but every operation (same as initial host.com/update.php opening) was EXTREMELY long, and going to 49% has taken something near 2 hours and then again was this error:

"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 180 seconds exceeded in /var/www/vhosts/host.com/httpdocs/includes/file.inc on line 1980"

Migration from Drupal 5.7 to newer version?

Hi all,

I manage a staff intranet for a charity, which uses Drupal 5.7. I've heard that this version isn't very secure anymore, and I'm finding it a bit of a pain to run. Does anyone know how hard/expensive it would be to migrate all the content to a newer (more secure/easier to use) version of Drupal?

Many thanks in advance!

Alex
