Site with sections, permissions...

I'm thinking about using Drupal for a company site I'm building. Would it work (and with which modules) for my needs?

should i use drupal 5.0 or 5.2

Ok so i have noticed that drupal 5.0 has loads of modules that will work with it, however the new release of drupal 5.2 does not. If go ahead and use drupal 5.0 are there any serious risks...i know it is always recommended to use the most up-to-date release, but i want more functionality?

Im lost in the modules section, dont know what modules to use!

Hello

Im trying to setup a site, but im completely lost in the modules section! There are just too many options, and id like to know what modules are a good start point to some sections i need:

- articles: i need to setup different permissions for different categories based on registered status or some user role, and some basic features like pagination, image manager, statistics control... actually, i didnt understand the "node" concept very well, so i dont know if what i need is what im looking for. I want to be able to put some "articles" online about a few quite disconected fields of interest. it would be a lot like a blog, aside the focus on the "sections" rather than in the "date of publication". Would be nice to allow another people to submit articles too.

- i want to setup some subdomains. theres a feature that allows drupal to have more than one site in the same install by using subdomains, but i dont know if thats necessary to do what i really want: to have a different theme in some of these sections accessed by different subdomains. and im afraid that by using different sites, ill need to do all the configurations that would be the same in each one of them. dont know if i got the concept right, but what im thinking about is to associate taxonomy terms with subdirectories and themes.

provider.info created with Drupal and which module?

Dear All,

would be interested to create a news aggregator just like provider.info as I believe it really offers added value over just aggregating different newsfeeds - how was this accomplished?

Using Leech? FeedAPI?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Martin
(If you do believe you can create a site like that, PM me your offer, otherwise I will try it myself)

Sudomain same users as main site

I am looking for a way to share users between my sites. the one site is on the main .com and the other one is a subdomain. I have gone through most of the things i could find about this but it dont make sense to me since i am not so clued up with some of the stuff.
