Is Drupal a viable solution for my website? Please review What is Drupal before posting.

Too much!

i wanted a guy to customize/ fix drupal to make my site work like deviant art. The guy said that the starting price was going to be 5000 dollars now i am a college student not a corporation. is this really the amount it would cost since i dont know how to code much myself? I really want to get this site up but it seems i am on my own .. You think anyone would contribute if they were listed as a contributer to the site? just trying to figure something out and would love some feedback

All-in-one installers for Drupal and Drupal Beta

Hi,

We have created an easy to use installer for Drupal that also installs and configures Apache, MySQL and PHP. The idea is to have everything up and running by the time you click 'finish' so that you don't have to do any manual configuration. Currently we have Windows and Linux versions, with OS X and Solaris planned.

Our goal is to make open source applications as easy to use as possible (we have installers for other projects as well).

Is this viable? Advice if this is possible...

Hey All,

I am embarking on building a rather unique membership site, and am wondering if everything I have in mind is possible
with Drupal. =)

Here's what I'm wanting to have:

There are three main components to the site.

The first is a forum.

Second will be things like audios and articles - Various content types.

Third, and the hard one, is a Profile/Resume system. Members can only post one,
and they need to be easily browse-able and accessible. (Possibley have a rating system that
the admin defines the rank?)

Catalog / drop down search

Hi, I currently have a website with and lame CMS behind it (built from scratch) and I'm looking into redoing it in ether Joomla, Drupal or Plone.
Most of it is pretty basic stuff.... news articles, FAQ items, etc.
The only things that I'm have a hard time finding as an add-on are some searches:
1. A dealer listing which is narrowed by state, product line, etc.
2. A parts catalog with a control to narrow the search by several parameters (make, model, year, etc)

Scripted Install and Windows support

Hi

After trying several failed installs of Drupal, I'd like to go back to the start and ask whether

1. Is there a scripted install I could use to get away from the PHP installation process ? Why should the installer run from within and therefore be concealed behind the web server ?
2. Is Windows is a tier 1 platform ? I could go to Linux if need be. Is the Drupal / Apache / PHP stack just better tested and more stable on Linux ? Linux Format gave Drupal 9 out of 10 and I just can't reconcile this to my Windows install experiences. First of all the install failed completely and without a reasonable error with MySQL 5.1. Then with MySQL 5.0 / Apache 2.2.6 / PHP 5.2.4, the tables get installed but then Apache dies twice. And at that point, I have no drupal installed and no error messages from Drupal and no way of recovering the install process. Hence my question about a scripted install.

Here's what apache says as it dies and restarts.

Form Field Flexibility (CCK)

Hello there,

I have a question regarding the Content Construction Kit (CCK).
http://drupal.org/project/cck

As I understand it, I can add fields to my pages just by adding them in the webbrowser. Therefore, I can handle the fields flexible.
