Hello everyone,
I'm currently in the process of redesigning the website of a Child Rights organization called ANPPCAN. Their current website http://www.anppcan.org is in need of a serious overhaul. My overall objective is to create a professional site that is very easy to update once I leave. I've been looking predominately into WordPress as a CMS solution but thought I should explore Drupal a little further before I decide to move forward.
It's a fairly basic site.. the site plan can be viewed here http://www.anppcan.org/anppcan_siteplan.pdf
WordPress appeals to me on many levels, mostly because of it's simplicity. I've done some initial research into Drupal and honestly, it scares me. I am a designer with limited programming skills.. and I really don't want to get in over my head.
Is Drupal as scary as it looks? Is there somewhere to educate myself further..? I'd love to find a simple tutorial on how to apply a theme, add some modules, and customize the design using HTML and CSS. Not sure if it'd be that simple...
Also, our internet connection here is quite challenging. I still haven't been able to get an idea of the Themes page because the hundreds of pictures take so long to load. I really love the K2 theme from WordPress... so any solidly designed themes you can recommend would be very helpful. Oh how I miss highspeed internet.... :)
